Alex Gordon went 0-for-3 with a walk in Wednesday's 8-3 setback to the Yankees.
Gordon has only 10 hits in his last 15 games, lowering his batting average 38 points to .235. Will his 2011 breakout season be remembered as a sign of things to come, or as an outlier in an otherwise adequate career? With four homers and only one steal, the former first round pick has a ways to go to get back on track.
May 24 - 6:26 AM
Alex Gordon doubled in Wednesday's win over the Red Sox.
Gordon's eighth double of the season leaves him with a .267/.366/.440 triple slash, while he's now batting .313 since starting off the year in an 0-for-17 slump. Just in case last season didn't convince you, the No. 2 overall pick of the 2005 draft is for real.
May 9 - 11:29 PM
Alex Gordon continued his hot-hitting ways, going 2-for-3 with a homer and a steal in the Royals 7-6 win over the Twins on Friday.
Gordon also drove home two and scored two runs on the night. He got the scoring started early with a two-run shot off of Carl Pavano in the first inning of this one. After struggling for the first few weeks, Gordon has really come on strong in his last few games. He looks well on his way to showing that his strong effort from 2011 was no fluke.
Apr 27 - 11:29 PM
Alex Gordon went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer on Wednesday, helping the Royals snap their 12-game losing streak in an 8-2 win over the Indians.
He scored two runs. Gordon's first three-hit night of the season featured a three-run blast off of Jairo Asencio in the ninth inning. Gordon is still batting just .197, but is now 14 for his past 54 (.259) after starting off the year in an 0-for-17 funk. It shouldn't be long before his average is back up around .300.

Salvador Perez (knee) is ahead of schedule in his recovery and will report to extended spring training early next week.
Royals manager Ned Yost estimated that Perez is about 3-4 weeks away from returning. If all goes well, he could return sometime before the All-Star break.

Manny Pina (knee) said he's running at about 60 percent and will likely catch his first bullpen in 15 days.
"I think (I’ll) be ready to play like June, early June," Piña said. The 24-year-old could be optioned to Triple-A when he's healthy.

Royals placed INF Chris Getz on the 15-day disabled list with a left ribcage contusion.
Getz originally suffered the injury last week, but he aggravated it during Tuesday's game. Johnny Giovotella and Irving Falu will share second base duties during his absence.

Yuniesky Betancourt
D.L.
Yuniesky Betancourt (ankle) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment Thursday at the Double-A level.
Betancourt has been out of commission since May 2 with an ankle sprain. It is fully healed by now and he should be ready to return to the bigs by the end of May.

Lorenzo Cain (groin) is expected to miss another 4-8 weeks.
Cain originally just had a left groin strain, but that has turned into a torn hip flexor. It's a really bad injury for a base stealer and he won't even start rehab work until next week. Speedster Jarrod Dyson projects to get most of the starts in center going forward. He's hitting .321 with two swipes in his first seven appearances of the season.

Jonathan Sanchez (biceps tendinitis) is heading to the Royals' spring training complex for rehab work.
He'll eventually progress to a minor league rehab assignment. Sanchez, who was placed on the disabled list retroactive to May 8, seems doubtful to return before the end of May. He has posted a brutal 6.75 ERA and 18/22 K/BB ratio through six starts this season.

Danny Duffy
D.L.
Dr. Lewis Yocum confirmed that Danny Duffy has a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow.
Yocum confirmed the initial diagnosis by Royals head physician Dr. Key. Duffy will undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery in Los Angeles within the next two weeks and figures to miss the early part of the 2013 campaign. It's disappointing given the improvement he showed this season, but there's still plenty of promise here in the long-term.
