Ricky Romero allowed three runs -- two earned -- over 3 2/3 innings Thursday in game with Triple-A Buffalo.
It was another disastrous outing for Romero, who issued six walks and yielded four hits before being lifted in the fourth inning. He surrendered six earned runs on 10 hits and five walks in his first start last week for Triple-A Buffalo. The lefty may need to head back to High-A ball.

Romero was optioned to the Triple-A level last Thursday after posting a 12.46 ERA and 2.77 WHIP in two starts with Toronto. The 28-year-old lefty is a mess right now.

Blue Jays optioned LHP Ricky Romero to Triple-A Buffalo.
It had to be done. Romero made it only a third of an inning Wednesday in his start against the Rays and now has a 5.92 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 128/110 K/BB ratio in 185 1/3 innings since the start of the 2012 season.

Ricky Romero pitched one-third of an inning Wednesday, allowing three runs and taking the loss to the Rays.
It was a quick hook for the lefty after he exited his last start with forearm stiffness. There was no word of an injury Wednesday, so we'll assume it was just flat-out poor pitching that led to Romero's exit. The Jays brought Romero up to take the place of the injured Josh Johnson, but it's worth wondering how much longer they'll roll with him in Johnson's absence. His spot in the rotation is due to pitch again on Tuesday, but whether it'll be Romero taking the mound is still in question.

Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos said it "would not surprise me" if Jose Reyes returned in late June.
Reyes had the walking boot on his left foot removed Tuesday and is evidently recovering a bit ahead of schedule, as he had been expected to sit out until around the All-Star break. The shortstop is still in the early stages of his recovery, though. A lot can happen over the next six weeks.

Johnson struck out five over three innings of one-run ball on Monday with High-A Dunedin. He's feeling good physically, but the right-hander obviously needs to build up his stamina. He'll rejoin the rotation in early June if he can avoid a setback.

Happ was hoping to make it back by mid-June, but he now won't be eligible to return until early July. The left-hander is coming back from a small fracture behind his left ear as well as a sprained right knee.

Dustin McGowan (shoulder) will continue his minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Buffalo.
McGowan allowed one hit and one walk over two scoreless innings with High-A Dunedin and notched four strikeouts. The Blue Jays can't count on him given his lengthy injury history, but he could be an option to join the bullpen later this month if all goes well.

The move was made in order to clear room on the 40-man roster for Thad Weber. Santos will be out until after the All-Star break following surgery to remove bone chips and spurs from his right elbow.

Blue Jays placed LHP Darren Oliver on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 19. with a left shoulder strain.
Oliver has been dealing with the ailment for 7-10 and hadn't appeared in a game in nearly a week. He shouldn't be out long, but the Jays have decided to play things safe. Toronto still has two lefties in the bullpen in Aaron Loup and Brett Cecil.
