Phil Hughes gave up three earned runs over six innings in Sunday's loss to the White Sox.
As in his first start of the season, Hughes pitched a serviceable, if unspectacular, game. He allowed two runs in the first inning on an RBI single by Adam LaRoche and an RBI double by Alexei Ramirez. In the third, LaRoche touched him up again, this time for a solo home run. The 28-year-old righty scattered eight hits and struck out four without a walk. In each of his first two starts, Hughes has struggled early, with the Tigers scoring four runs in the second inning on Opening Day and the White Sox putting up two in the first on Sunday. He'll try to get off to a cleaner start when he takes on the Indians in his next outing. Apr 12 - 5:13 PM
