Rockies signed RHP Sean Gallagher to a minor league contract; assigned him to Double-A Tulsa.
Gallagher had been pitching for the Sugar Land Skeeters of the independent Atlantic League. He last made an appearance in a major league game in 2010 with Pittsburgh.

Reds signed RHP Sean Gallagher to a minor league contract.
Gallagher was a decent prospect at one time and will turn just 26 later this month, but his star has faded rapidly. He held a 5.11 ERA and 1.49 WHIP at Triple-A in the Pirates organization in 2011, failing to make it up to the big league level. He's merely organizational depth.

According to Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com, Sean Gallagher remains under team control for one more season.
When Gallagher was sent outright to Triple-A Indianapolis last week, the Pirates were working under the assumption that the right-hander would be able to declare himself a minor league free agent on Saturday. Apparently not. Instead, he'll likely be in camp with the club during spring training,

Pirates sent RHP Sean Gallagher outright to Triple-A Indianapolis.
The Bucs acquired Gallagher in July from the Padres for cash considerations. He went on to post a 6.03 ERA and 1.75 WHIP in 34 1/3 innings with Pittsburgh and has an unclear future in the major leagues.

Rockies placed SS Troy Tulowitzki on the 15-day disabled list with a right rib fracture.
Tulowitzki had been dealing with rib soreness for a week and aggravated the injury while making a diving stop during Thursday's game. The injury a brutal blow for the Rockies and fantasy owners alike, as the 28-year-old is batting .347/.413/.635 with 16 homers and 51 RBI this season. He's expected to miss 4-6 weeks.

Tyler Chatwood held the Phillies to two runs over five innings Saturday in the Rockies' victory.
It was Chatwood's first start back from a triceps issue and he looked fairly sharp over his 84 pitches (50 of which were strikes). The righty scattered seven hits and three walks, striking out one. He will carry a 2.33 ERA into his next scheduled outing against the Nationals.

Edwar Cabrera (left shoulder impingement) threw a 45-pitch bullpen session last month.
We've read nothing further regarding Cabrera, which probably means he isn't close to a rehab assignment. The 25-year-old lefty was placed on the 60-day disabled list in February. He's eligible for activation, but not healthy enough to pitch. Cabrera ranked as Colorado's ninth best prospect by MLB.com this offseason.

Rafael Betancourt (groin) threw a 35-pitch bullpen session on Tuesday and reported feeling fine.
Betancourt will face live hitters on Friday and could then be cleared for a minor league rehab assignment. The veteran right-hander will be back in the Rockies' bullpen by the end of this month if everything continues to go smoothly. Rex Brothers is filling in at closer and doing a fine job.
