Ike Davis said he's been assured by Mets manager Terry Collins that he will not be sent to the minors.
Davis is sporting a brutal .159/.213/.290 batting line and 44 strikeouts in 155 plate appearances this season, but the Mets will allow him to work through his struggles in the major leagues. At least for now. He's out of the lineup Thursday for a second straight game. Vinny Rottino is playing first base.

Vinny Rottino will start at first base for a second consecutive game. Davis is batting just .159/.213/.290 with 44 strikeouts in 155 plate appearances this season.

Ike Davis went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Tuesday's win over the Pirates.
Davis now has just two hits in his last 33 at-bats, striking out 10 times over that stretch. He's now batting a paltry .156 for the season, and it might only be a matter of time before he's optioned to Triple-A in order to get his swing figured out.

Ike Davis is back in the Mets' starting lineup Tuesday night against the Pirates.
Davis didn't start Monday, but struck out as a pinch-hitter to end the game. The 25-year-old is hitting just .161 with five homers and a 41/10 K/BB ratio through 40 games this season. He's at risk for a possible demotion if he doesn't turn things around soon.

Josh Thole (concussion) has resumed baseball activities, including hitting, but has not gotten back behind the plate yet.
Thole landed on the 7-day disabled list earlier this month after suffering a concussion in a home plate collision with Phillies' infielder Ty Wigginton. Mets manager Terry Collins is hoping he'll be ready to catch an inning in extended spring training on Friday. We wouldn't count on his return next week.

Mets manager Terry Collins hopes Ruben Tejada (quad) will be ready to begin a minor league rehab assignment on Monday.
Tejada is currently rehabbing in extended spring training in Florida. It's not clear which minor league affiliate he'll be joining, but he'll likely only need a handful of games before he's ready to return. The 22-year-old shortstop was batting .305/.362/.400 over his first 117 plate appearances this season prior to suffering a right quad strain on May 6.

Bay is currently working his way back from a non-displaced rib fracture. He was recently cleared to increase baseball activities and was slated to take batting practice Wednesday in Florida. He's likely around 10 days to two weeks away from rejoin the Mets.

It's a procedural move in order to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Vinny Rottino. Pelfrey, of course, is done for the season after undergoing Tommy John surgery Tuesday.

Batista left Saturday's start with the ailment. Though the Mets have yet to reveal a timetable for him, he doesn't seem likely to miss much more than the minimum time. Jeremy Hefner is expected to replace him in the rotation.

Pedro Beato (shoulder) allowed one hit and struck out two in a scoreless inning for High-A St. Lucie on Monday in his second minor league rehab appearance.
Beato, who began the year on the DL with rotator cuff inflammation, tossed two hitless innings in his first appearance on Saturday. The Mets may option him to Triple-A Buffalo once he has built up enough arm strength, but he figures to find his way back to the big leagues before long.
