Ike Davis was told Saturday by Mets general manger Sandy Alderson that a demotion is not imminent.
ESPN New York reported Saturday morning that there were intensifying internal discussions about sending the struggling first baseman to Triple-A, but Davis got the vote of confidence on Saturday afternoon directly from the man who would make that decision. Davis estimated that he has about a month to turn it around.

ESPN New York reports that the Mets have "intensified" discussions about potentially demoting Ike Davis.
Davis was able to snap a six game hitless streak Friday, but he may not have more than this weekend's series against the Cubs to prove he deserves to avoid a demotion. If Davis is sent down, the Mets are expected to call up Andrew Brown from Triple-A Las Vegas to replace him on the active roster. Davis is batting .160/.245/.267 with four home runs in 38 games this season.

Mets manager Terry Collins said Thursday that he is committed to batting Ike Davis cleanup "through the weekend."
Davis went 0-for-5 with four strikeouts Thursday and is now hitless over his last 22 at-bats, dropping his batting average to .157 for the year. The Mets are trying to be patient with the 26-year-old first baseman through his prolonged slump, but he can't keep killing rallies in the middle of the order for much longer.

Ike Davis is batting cleanup again on Thursday.
Davis went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in Wednesday's loss to the Cardinals and is now batting .164/.254/.279 with 41 strikeouts in 36 games this season. But the Mets want to get the first baseman going and will stick with him in the four spot for Thursday's series finale at Busch Stadium. The Cards are going for the four-game sweep.

Jenrry Mejia (elbow) racked up six strikeouts over three innings during his first minor league rehab start with High-A St. Lucie on Friday.
Mejia has been on the disabled list for the entire season with inflammation in his pitching elbow. He's likely to require a relatively lengthy rehab assignment, and shouldn't be expected to return to the Mets until early June. Should he secure a spot in the Mets rotation, he could carve out a decent amount of value in NL-only and deeper mixed leagues.

Francisco will rest for 72 hours before trying to throw again. The reliever was pulled from his minor league rehab assignment over the weekend due to soreness, but he's avoided a serious setback.

Collin McHugh was called up from Triple-A Las Vegas to fill the vacant bullpen spot. Atchison has been shut down for a week and prescribed anti-inflammatory medication. It's not clear when he might return.
