Jay Bruce had an RBI single in the fourth and a two-run double in the 10th to lead the Reds to a 5-3 win over the Marlins on Thursday.
All of those angry tweets obviously got Bruce going. He is hitting .308 with two homers and 13 RBI in 12 games this month after coming in at .252 with one homer and 11 RBI during a rough month of April.

Jay Bruce went 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBI Saturday as the Reds beat the Brewers by a score of 13-7.
Could the 26-year-old outfielder finally be emerging from his prolonged early-season slump? He hit a solo shot to right-center in the bottom of the second inning and had two doubles in the third. He entered the game with a .247/.298/.367 batting line and came out of it hitting .258/.307/.406. Look for more of the same going forward.

After being dropped to sixth Sunday, Jay Bruce was back in the fifth spot in the order Monday, but he went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts against the Cardinals.
It looked like Bruce was pointed in the right direction a week ago, but he's fallen back into another slump, having gone seven straight games without an RBI. We doubt it will last, so he looks like a nice buy-low candidate at the moment.

It's merely a procedural move. Ludwick has been ruled out until early July with a torn labrum in his right shoulder.

Reds trainer Paul Lessard said Wednesday that Chris Heisey (hamstring) is able to job at about "80 percent effort."
Heisey landed on the disabled list in late April due to a hamstring strain and aggravated the injury during a rehab assignment last week. His absence is expected to stretch into June.

Reds placed LHP Sean Marshall on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 21, with a sprained left shoulder.
It's the second time this season that the shoulder has sent him to the DL, though the Reds called it tendinitis the first time around. The club figures to take it slowly with Marshall this time, so he could be looking at an extended absence. Manny Parra (pectoral) has been activated and will take Marshall's spot in the bullpen.

Masset had shoulder surgery last September and was shut down in April after experiencing a setback with his throwing program. While he's making progress, he has yet to throw from a mound. There's no clear timetable for his return.
