Dan Uggla launched a pair of solo homers Wednesday in the Braves' 7-2 win in Cincinnati.
Uggla's homers were the Braves' only runs through seven innings before the team came up with five in the eighth. He's now hit in six straight games to raise his average from .163 to .209. Today's performance got him back to the Mendoza Line for the first time since April 10.

Dan Uggla (calf) is in the lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Rockies.
Uggla didn't play Sunday after he left Saturday's game with a strained left calf. He'll likely be rested for the nightcap.

Uggla left Saturday night's game with a strained left calf, and he'll get the day off Sunday to rest the leg. He hopes to return to action as early as Monday. Ramiro Pena will start in his place against Pittsburgh.

Dan Uggla left Saturday's game against the Pirates because of a left calf strain.
Uggla was replaced by Ramiro Pena. The second baseman is considered day-to-day with the injury for now but could require a stint on the 15-day disabled list. Hitting just .164/.303/.327 on the young season, a mental and physical reset might do Uggla some good.

Brandon Beachy (elbow) will make his first official minor league rehab start Sunday with Triple-A Gwinnett.
Beachy was cleared after he threw 29 pitches over two innings Tuesday during a start in extended spring training. He's expected to make around five starts in the minors, which puts him on pace to join the Braves around the anniversary of his Tommy John surgery on June 21. He's well worth stashing in most fantasy leagues.

Jonny Venters underwent Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery on Thursday afternoon.
It's the second time he's had the procedure in his baseball career. Venters can now be ruled out for the remainder of the 2013 season and is also likely to miss the first couple months of the 2014 campaign. It's obviously a pretty big loss for the Atlanta bullpen.

Eric O'Flaherty will undergo Tommy John surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn left ulnar collateral ligament.
It was inevitable after an MRI over the weekend revealed the bad news. In addition to obviously missing the rest of this season, O'Flaherty will likely be sidelined for the first couple months of the 2014 campaign, as well.

Jordan Walden (shoulder) will not be ready to be activated from the disabled list next Monday.
That's the first day he's eligible to return, but the right-hander is not quite far along enough. Walden will throw a bullpen session later this week and then head out on a short minor league rehab assignment. He should be ready for activation just before the end of May.

Obviously it's impossible to predict how much time Ayala might miss. David Carpenter has been recalled to take his spot in the bullpen.

Cristhian Martinez (shoulder) still doesn't have a timetable for his return.
The Braves reliever has been sidelined since April 12 with a right shoulder sprain, and apparently it was serious enough that the Braves still don't have any idea when he might be back. The right-hander had a 3.91 ERA with 65 strikeouts in 73 2/3 innings last year.
