Dan Uggla hit a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Reds.
Uggla's sixth bomb of the season provided the Braves' only run in a 2-1 setback. He also managed to draw his 26th walk. Uggla is now batting .263/.364/.431 through Atlanta's first 45 games. It's a vast improvement on where he was this time last season, where he entered May 23 hitting .185/.256/.344.

Dan Uggla had a strong night at the dish on Tuesday, going 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI in the Braves' 3-1 victory over the Cubs.
Uggla came to the plate with the game tied at 1-1 in the eighth inning and delivered a crucial two-run single off Kerry Wood to put the Braves on top. The second baseman has been impressive in the early part of the season, hitting .277/.353/.420 with four homers and 19 RBI. While the average may not be sustainable, the power is definitely real.

Dan Uggla went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Dodgers.
Both hits were singles, but the second plated the tying run in a 2-1 game in the ninth inning. The multi-hit effort was Uggla's second in three games, while he's now batting .264/.346/.417 after sporting a .527 OPS less than 10 days ago. Atlanta's second baseman appears poised to avoid a repeat of his dreadful 2011 start.

Dan Uggla went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Monday's loss to the Astros.
Uggla is now 1-for-13 (.077) with five strikeouts to begin the season. He can't possibly be as bad as he was during the first half last year, but the Braves likely need big seasons from him and Jason Heyward if they hope to contend.

David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution writes that Chipper Jones (calf) is "worse today than before."
Jones hasn't started since suffering a left calf contusion when he was smacked in the leg by a line drive off the bat of Rays' outfielder B.J. Upton last Friday. According to O'Brien, the stiffness moved up in his calf after they "milked" the contusion on Wednesday. We're not sure what that means exactly, but it certainly sounds gross. He remains sidelined indefinitely.

Braves placed RHP Arodys Vizcaino on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 26, with a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.
It's a procedural move, as Vizcaino underwent Tommy John surgery earlier this month. The hard-throwing right-hander will hope to make it back for the start of 2013.

Braves placed LHP Robert Fish on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 26, with left elbow tendinitis.
Fish made three appearances this spring before being shut down due to soreness. The 24-year-old left-hander was selected from the Angels in December's Rule 5 Draft, but the Braves get to keep him around as long as he's on the disabled list.
