Mike Aviles had three RBI in Puerto Rico's 6-3 victory over the Team Venezuela Saturday.
The win moves Team Puerto Rico to 2-0 and clinches a second round appearance, while Venezuela drops to 0-2 with the loss. Venezuela will play winless Spain tomorrow at 12:30 PM ET. Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, also guaranteed a second round appearance at 2-0, will play for seeding at 7:30 PM ET. The winner will play the runner-up of Pool D in the second round while the loser will play the winner of Pool D.

Indians and UTIL Mike Aviles avoided arbitration by agreeing to a two-year, $6 million contract.
The deal also carries an option for the 2015 season. Aviles, 31, was acquired this winter from the Blue Jays as part of a three-player swap after being traded earlier this offseason from Boston to Toronto. Now he'll be in Cleveland for at least the next two summers.

Mike Aviles requested $3.4 million and was offered $2.4 million from the Indians when arbitration figures were exchanged Friday.
Aviles, who was acquired from the Blue Jays in November, is arbitration-eligible for the second time after hitting .250/.282/.381 with 13 home runs, 14 stolen bases and 60 RBI in 136 games last season with the Red Sox. The two sides will hope to find some middle ground in advance of a possible hearing in February.

Indians acquired INF Mike Aviles and INF/C Yan Gomes from the Blue Jays for RHP Esmil Rogers
Aviles was part of the Blue Jays' compensation for manager John Farrell, but made $1.2 million in 2012 and is arbitration-eligible for the second time this winter. Gomes struggled in limited action last season, hitting just .204/.264/.367 with four home runs in 43 games. Rogers, 27, will be used as a middle reliever with Toronto.

Lou Marson (shoulder) admitted Monday that there is no timetable for his return to the Indians' active roster.
Marson has begun throwing but is not yet performing any other baseball activities due to lingering soreness in his shoulder and neck. "It's definitely frustrating," the catcher told MLB.com. "I know what it is and kind of what I have to do. Hopefully, I can get on the field soon."

Myers threw 33 pitches last week in his first rehab start and will probably try to top 50 pitches on Wednesday. He'll make at least one more start in the minors after that before being considered for activation. The right-hander is attempting to pitch through a UCL tear.

The move was made in order to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for the arrival of Michael Bourn. Tomlin is recovering from Tommy John surgery and is expected to miss the entire 2013 campaign.

Wood felt some soreness in his surgically-repaired elbow during his first appearance on Saturday, but it was only a minor scare. The 27-year-old right-hander is currently in recovery mode from Tommy John surgery and will likely need a handful of appearances before he's a legitimate consideration for the major league roster.
