Tony Sipp was ejected from Tuesday's game against the White Sox in the bottom of the 10th inning.
Sipp was already leaving the game at the time, but he had some words for first base umpire Wally Bell, who called Alejandro De Aza safe on a bunt single on the previous play. He allowed two hits over one-third of an inning before being replaced by Chris Perez.

Indians manager Manny Acta said Vinnie Pestano and Tony Sipp will share the closer duties until Chris Perez returns from the bereavement list.
Perez left the team before Friday's game after the death of his grandmother. He's expected to be back with the team Sunday, but the bereavement list rules say a player must stay on the list for at least three days, so he won't be available until Monday. Sipp (2.41 ERA, 0.89 WHIP) and Pestano (1.52 ERA, 0.88 WHIP) have both been fantastic this season.

Indians manager Manny Acta said his plan is to mix and match with Tony Sipp, Rafael Perez and Joe Smith in the eighth inning until someone "grabs that job and runs away with it."
It's worth noting for those in leagues that count holds, as well as those that feel the need to get closer insurance for Chris Perez. Sipp is the most intriguing name of the three, having posted a 10.2 K/9 rate over his two seasons. The side-arming Smith almost exclusively faces right-handed batters and Perez is coming off back-to-back disappointing seasons.

Indians recalled LHP Tony Sipp from Triple-A Columbus.
The 2009 season has been a roller coaster ride for Sipp, who has been optioned and recalled several times. He has a 3.12 ERA in the big leagues this season, but his control (10/10 K/BB ratio) could use a bit of taming.

Hannahan hasn't played since May 13, so it's surprising the Indians haven't placed him on the disabled list at this point. Perhaps he'll finally make it back by this weekend.

Grady Sizemore (back) took batting practice Wednesday for the first time since landing on the disabled list.
"He looked good for the first time," Acta said. "He swung the bat good, but it's just a start. We're not going to rush anything. He's going to continue his rehab, and I'm anticipating that he's going to go on a rehab assignment where he's going to have plenty of at-bats before he comes up here and plays." Sizemore has been hitting, throwing and doing running and agility drills, but he's not close to returning to the lineup. He's hoping to be back before the end of June.

Travis Hafner is being held out of Thursday's game against the Tigers due to a right knee bruise.
Indians skipper Manny Acta called the 34-year-old DH "day-to-day." Hafner is hitting .242/.380/.439 with six home runs and 23 RBI in 39 games played this season.

Josh Tomlin (wrist) tossed a successful 50-pitch simulated game on Thursday morning.
Tomlin threw all his pitches and got a thumbs up from his skipper. He looked good," said Manny Acta. "He's expected to be fine." The 27-year-old starter was diagnosed last week with intersection syndrome in his right wrist but could be ready to return by the end of May.

Indians manager Manny Acta said Monday that Roberto Hernandez is confident he will receive his travel visa and return to the team.
Hernandez, formerly known as Fausto Carmona, was arrested in his native Dominican Republic in January for falsifying his identity. He reached a deal last month to have the charges dropped in exchange for completing a work program, but it's not clear when he'll receive a visa to travel to the United States. It's possible that MLB could still levy a suspension, though the Indians are hopeful that reducing his salary will serve as an appropriate punishment. He's staying in playing shape in the meantime.
