J.A. Happ surrendered six hits and four runs over 8 1/3 innings Wednesday in the Blue Jays’ win over Atlanta.
Happ struck out eight and didn’t walk anyone over a season-high 113 pitches. The left-hander was hoping for his first complete game in eight years, but ran out of gas in the ninth inning, yielding hits to Freddie Freeman and Nick Markakis before getting pulled for Ryan Tepera, who allowed both inherited runners to score. Atlanta’s other two runs came on solo blasts by Kurt Suzuki and Peter Bourjos in the second and third innings respectively. Wednesday extended Happ’s unbeaten streak to seven starts. He’ll take an impressive 9-3 record into his next appearance Monday at Houston. Jun 20 - 4:27 PM
