Rick Porcello rebounded from his worst start of the season on Friday, holding the Orioles to four runs over six innings.
Four runs in six innings rarely qualifies as a "rebound," but in Porcello's case, it looks a lot better than the eight runs in five innings he surrendered last time he faced the Orioles. In Friday's contest, he struck out seven and walked two while scattering six hits. The Orioles got on the board via a two-run homer by Jimmy Paredes in the fourth inning, then added a solitary run in the sixth. Porcello started the seventh inning but got himself into a jam with no outs, which eventually led to a sacrifice fly by Everth Cabrera off Craig Breslow to finish the scoring on Porcello's line. The 26-year-old right-hander's 6.48 ERA and 1.44 WHIP should fall closer to his career 4.34 as the season goes along. He'll return to Fenway to face the Blue Jays in his next start.
