Kyuji Fujikawa struck out two in a perfect inning Friday versus the Mets.
Kevin Gregg is safe in the closer's role for now, but it's worth noting that Fujikawa has allowed just one hit in four scoreless innings and posted a 6/0 K/BB ratio since coming off the disabled list last week. He's next in line for saves if Gregg falters.

Cubs activated RHP Kyuji Fujikawa from the 15-day disabled list.
Fujikawa missed nearly a month of action with a strained right forearm. Kevin Gregg has settled into the Cubs' closer role, but he's far from a sure bet to keep it, so Fujikawa is a good roster stash.

Kyuji Fujikawa (forearm) tossed two scoreless innings Wednesday during a minor league rehab appearance with Double-A Tennessee.
Fujikawa gave up one hit and didn't walk or strike out a batter. He threw 10 out of 16 pitches for strikes. Barring any setbacks, he should rejoin the Cubs' bullpen later this week. He's expected to pitch as a set-up man in front of newly-named closer Kevin Gregg.

Kyuji Fujikawa (forearm) will pitch in a set-up role when he returns from the disabled list.
Fujikawa was the Cubs' closer when he landed on the disabled list last month, but Kevin Gregg has emerged as the club's ninth-inning man during his absence. We still think Fujikawa will get saves chances eventually, but it's probably not a bad idea to ease him back into things and get some success under his belt.

He's also throwing from 120-130 feet and is expected to start swinging a bat early next week. Clevenger is on the 60-day DL and won't be eligible to return until mid-June. He should have no trouble being ready at that time, though he's not a given to return to the big club.

It was Baker's first time throwing since he was shut down near the end of spring training with a right elbow strain. The Cubs will know a lot more about his timetable once he starts to build up his workload.

Cubs manager Dale Sveum said Tuesday that Arodys Vizcaino (elbow) is a couple weeks away from appearing in a game.
He is presumably referring to an extended spring training game. Vizcaino, who will continue his rehab with the Cubs rather than at the club's spring training facility, is expected back around midseason.
