Jake Arrieta pitched a superb game in Thursday's 6-1 win over the Mets, tossing eight innings and allowing just one run.
Arrieta scattered five hits over his eight innings, striking out seven without walking a batter. Three of the hits went for doubles, but only Curtis Granderson's two-bagger in the third inning would plate a run. In his last 24 innings, Arrieta has allowed just two runs. He holds a 2.80 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 110/23 K/BB ratio in 106 innings and is pitching his best ball of the season as we near the All-Star Break. He'll have his work cut out for him in his next scheduled start, though, a Tuesday afternoon home tilt with the Cardinals. Jul 2 - 4:01 PM
