Outman really struggled with the Rockies last season, but had a 0.84 ERA and 14/4 K/BB ratio over his first 10 2/3 innings with the Sky Sox this season. The 28-year-old southpaw figures to pitch in long relief.

He gets the boot despite posting a 2.16 ERA over six spring appearances. He'll be an option for the big league bullpen or possibly rotation eventually.

Rockies avoided arbitration with LHP Josh Outman by signing him to a one-year, $675,000 contract.
The left-hander was a first-time arbitration-eligible player. Outman struck out a batter per inning but posted an ugly 8.19 ERA over 27 appearances for the Rockies last season.

Josh Outman is expected to play winter ball in the Dominican Republic.
Outman has been limited to just 109 innings this season between the majors and the minors, so he wants to build up his workload. The 28-year-old southpaw has an ugly 8.59 ERA and 36/17 K/BB ratio in 36 2/3 innings over seven starts and 16 relief appearances with the Rockies this year. He'll likely remain in the bullpen in 2013.

Michael Cuddyer (neck) will play two games in extended spring training this week and is expected to be activated from the disabled list Friday.
Cuddyer will fly to Arizona on Monday night and play in games on Tuesday and Wednesday. Barring any setbacks, he should be ready to go as soon as he's eligible on Friday. The 34-year-old has been sidelined since May 8 with a bulging disc in his neck.

It will be the first time he's thrown from the bump since landing on the disabled list. Francis' groin isn't fully healed, but he shouldn't be out too much longer as long as he continues to progress. Whether he'll have a rotation spot once healthy remains to be seen.

The move cleared a 40-man roster spot for new infielder Reid Brignac. Cabrera can be activated in late May.

Rafael Betancourt had to leave Tuesday's game with an apparent injury.
Betancourt entered the game in the top of the 10th but had to leave before throwing a pitch. He has been nursing a leg ailment recently, though it's not clear if that's what forced him from the game. The Rockies should offer an update soon, but fantasy owners would be wise to scoop up Rex Brothers just in case.
