Bud Norris picked up the win over the Red Sox on Sunday, hurling 6 2/3 innings of three-run ball while scattering seven hits.
Norris scooped up the win in the contest, moving to 1-3 on the year. It would have been quite the story had he lost, as the Orioles provided a whopping 18 runs of support in their hammering of Wade Miley and the Boston bullpen. With the luxury of a 7-0 lead after just three innings, Norris was able to coast. He struck out two and walked three, keeping the Red Sox off the scoreboard until the seventh inning, when Pablo Sandoval touched him up for a three-run homer. The pitcher needed this kind of start for job security reasons, as he had allowed 20 runs in just 10 1/3 innings and entered Sunday with a 17.42 ERA. He will have to continue to pitch well, but this was definitely a step in the right direction. He'll attempt to replicate Sunday's results when the Orioles play the Rays next weekend.
