Norris was originally supposed to start Sunday after leaving his previous outing with back spasms but was pushed back just in case. Obviously, it appears that he's not over the ailment. The righty gave up just five hits and two walks over six frames before exiting Tuesday. The Astros should provide an update on his status after the game.

Norris left Monday's start against the Tigers with back spasms and will get some extra rest. Lucas Harrell will move up in the rotation to start Sunday against the Pirates.

MLB.com's Brian McTaggart reports the Reid Ryan will be named the new president of the Houston Astros.
Reid is the son of Nolan Ryan and currently runs the Triple-A Round Rock Express (an affiliate of the Rangers) and Double-A Corpus Christi Hooks (an affiliate of the Astros). He will be replacing George Postolos, who stepped down from the position of Astros president on Monday. Ryan will be officially introduced at a press conference Friday afternoon at Minute Maid Park.

Bud Norris said Tuesday that his back is still tight.
Norris left Monday's start against the Tigers with back spasms and is still experiencing some discomfort. He hopes to make his next scheduled start, but said that it's "definitely to be determined." Jose Cisnero or Travis Blackley are among the candidates for a potential spot start.

Matt Dominguez is out of the Astros' lineup on Wednesday night because of left quad tightness.
The Astros have a scheduled team off day on Thursday, so giving Dominguez the night off Wednesday affords him two full days of rest. The 23-year-old third baseman is batting just .245/.275/.371 in 43 games this season but he's one of the best defensive infielders in MLB.

Justin Maxwell (hand) hit 15 balls off a tee and took 30 soft-tosses on Monday.
Maxwell is no longer wearing a brace on his fractured left hand and is progressing steadily. He's scheduled to have a routine X-ray on Tuesday to see how the healing is coming along. The outfielder should make a late May/early June return if all goes well.

Josh Fields (forearm) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Friday with High-A Quad Cities.
Fields is scheduled to throw two innings. The Rule 5 pick appeared in two games with the Astros in early April prior to being placed on the disabled list. If all goes well, he could return to the big club sometime this month.

Paul Clemens left Monday's appearance with a right pinkie injury.
Clemens was struck by a comebacker and appeared to dislocate the finger, but the Astros' trainer popped it back in place and he stayed in to face one more batter. The club reconsidered after that, though, and decided to remove him. Clemens saved the bullpen with 5 1/3 scoreless relief frames after Erik Bedard lasted only 1/3 of an inning.

Alex White will undergo Tommy John surgery.
White showed diminished velocity this spring and was diagnosed with a strained pitching elbow, but the injury turned out to be worse than that. The young right-hander will obviously miss all of 2013 and might not be ready for the start of 2014.
