Anthony Rizzo is not in the Cubs' starting lineup on Tuesday night against the rival Cardinals.
It's the first day off of the season for the young first baseman, who has 10 home runs and 39 RBI in 68 games this season. Cody Ransom will get the nod in his place against Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright.

Anthony Rizzo went 3-for-4 with two runs scored Friday against the Mets.
Nice to see from Rizzo, who had just two hits over his previous seven games combined. The 23-year-old has really struggled dating back to mid-May, but he has the ability to be a top-10 option at the first base position in mixed leagues.

Anthony Rizzo went 0-for-4 on Wednesday and is batting .156 in 32 at-bats this month.
On the other hand, Rizzo has a 5/10 K/BB ratio in 10 games this month after coming in at 18/4 in 27 games last month. Still, as much as the new Cubs value walks and OBP, it's safe to say they'd rather see their first baseman hitting line drives.

Anthony Rizzo went 2-for-6 and came through with a bases-loaded double in the 10th inning to help the Cubs defeat the Angels 8-6 on Wednesday.
Angels reliever Robert Coello had only allowed one run all year before the 10th inning of Wednesday's game, but Rizzo cleared the bases with a two-out double to right field. The double was Rizzo's 18th of the season to go along with 10 home runs, and the three RBI gave him 39 RBI on the year. The first baseman is now hitting .259/.325/.491 through 57 games.

Clevenger has been over his oblique strain for a while now, but he's on the 60-day DL and not eligible to return until mid-June. It's probably not a given that he'll be added to the big league roster once eligible.

This confirms the original diagnosis. DeJesus suffered the injury when he slammed into the center field fence during Friday's game against the Mets. There's still no timetable for his return.

Kyuji Fujikawa underwent Tommy John surgery on Tuesday.
The reconstructive elbow procedure was performed by Dr. James Andrews and deemed a success. Fujikawa has already been placed on the 60-day disabled list and is unlikely to be ready to pitch for the Cubs again until June of next season. He signed a two-year, $9.5 million free agent contract with Chicago this past winter.

Cubs placed RHP Rafael Dolis on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 27, with a forearm strain.
No word on the severity of the injury. Dolis has yet to allow a run in five appearances with the Cubs this season. Blake Parker has been called up from Triple-A Iowa in a corresponding move.

Putnam left Tuesday's game with elbow soreness and is scheduled to undergo an MRI. The Cubs have called up Brooks Raley to replace him on the active roster.

Arodys Vizcaino has been ruled out for the season after recently undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow to address a calcium buildup.
Vizcaino wasn't progressed as hoped in his recovery from Tommy John surgery, and now we know why. It's a shame that he won't appear for the Cubs in 2013, but the good news is that his ligaments are fine and he should be ready to go for spring training. Vizcaino will be shut down for six weeks before beginning his rehab.
