Alexi Amarista went 2-for-4 with a triple and a game-tying two-run home run in the ninth inning of Sunday's loss to the Marlins.
Amarista's triple is notable for the fact that it was the only extra-base hit allowed by Marlins starter Jose Fernandez. After Fernandez left the game, the Padres looked dead in the water until the ninth inning, when Amarista struck like lightning, belting a two-run homer off reliever A.J. Ramos with one out to tie the proceedings at two-all. The big offensive showing is all the more surprising for the fact that Amarista was dealing with an 0-for-24 skid prior to his triple. He's batting just .201/.267/.293 with three home runs and 23 RBI this season. Aug 2 - 4:32 PM
