Kyle Gibson allowed three runs on eight hits over five innings against the Rays on Sunday.
Gibson didn't pitch horribly, though he had already thrown 94 pitches by the time the fifth inning ended. The Rays dinged him for two runs in the third inning and an additional run in the fifth. As usual, Gibson didn't offer much in the strikeout category, as he whiffed only two batters. He also walked two, bringing his K/BB ratio over 48 1/3 innings to 19/17. He holds a 2.98 ERA and 1.32 WHIP. Gibson hasn't been burned by a string of poor starts yet, but his propensity to allow runners on base means that it should be coming soon, at which point owners should seek shelter. Gibson will continue his quest to hold off statistical inevitability when he faces the White Sox on the road in his next outing. May 17 - 5:32 PM
