Lance Lynn allowed seven runs in five innings but stuck around long enough to get his ninth win, beating the Marlins on Saturday.
Lynn just had to be less terrible than Marlins starter Tom Koehler, and he lasted just long enough to qualify for the victory. It was a forgettable outing, but his ERA is still just 3.56 despite the drubbing. He'll go for double digit wins against the Cubs on Thursday.

Lance Lynn gave up four runs on five hits over six innings in his start on Sunday night against the Reds.
He struck out six and had three walks. It was a rare non-quality start from Lynn, who had allowed two or fewer earned runs in his previous three outings. He'll look to get back on track Saturday vs. the Marlins.

Lance Lynn moved to 8-1 with seven innings of one-run ball against the Diamondbacks on Monday.
Lynn's season ERA of 2.76 is plenty good on its own, but lop off the first three starts and he's all of the way down to 1.95 in his last nine outings. While his K/BB ratio isn't quite Wainwrightian, 76/26 in 75 innings is still very impressive.

Lance Lynn allowed just two runs over seven innings as the Cardinals topped the Royals on Wednesday.
Lynn was steady yet again, striking out four and walking only one while scattering eight hits. He threw 66 of his 99 pitches for strikes. The big right-hander will carry a 7-1 record, 2.91 ERA and 1.12 WHIP into his next scheduled start against the Diamondbacks.

Garcia had season-ending surgery this month to repair a labrum tear in his left shoulder. This move was made to clear a 40-man roster spot for Michael Wacha.

Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said that Chris Carpenter felt some back stiffness during a long bullpen session Sunday.
It's not clear if Carpenter will have to scale back his throwing program, but he'll likely need a few more bullpen sessions before the Cardinals think about the possibility of a rehab assignment. While it once looked like the veteran right-hander could return in late June, sometime during the second half appears more realistic at this point.

John Gast has been diagnosed with a strained left lat.
The Cardinals were encouraged by the diagnosis. "The timetable is to be determined, but the good news is that it's not the shoulder or the elbow," general manager John Mozeliak said. "Hopefully, it's something that won't take too long. With a lat, it can be up to a month or a month and a half. We'll see." Michael Wacha is taking Gast's spot in the rotation.

Salas has been sidelined for nearly a month due to right shoulder irritation. The Cardinals will likely want to see how he responds to throwing on back-to-back days before bringing him back from the disabled list.
