Dustin Ackley smashed a grand slam off R.A. Dickey on Saturday, helping the Mariners to an 8-1 victory.
The homer was Ackley's first one this season, and his only hit in four trips to the plate. After getting off to a sluggish start, Ackley has turned it on in recent weeks, hitting .362 (21-for-62) over his last 16 games.

Ackley is hitting .435 (10-for-23) over his last six games, but he's taking a seat Friday with left-hander C.J. Wilson on the hill. Robert Andino will make the start at second base while Brendan Ryan will play shortstop.

Dustin Ackley is batting .435 (10-for-23) over his last six games.
Ackley was batting .145 after an 0-for-3 performance on April 19, but he's strung together a six-game hitting streak since that includes a pair of three-hit contests. The second baseman batted in the No. 5 spot on Thursday, the highest he's been in the order this season. "I feel right now as good as I have the whole season – even better so than spring training," he said. "I’m just going to continue doing those things that I’ve been doing in the cage and BP and in the game, and hopefully they’ll keep working out."

Dustin Ackley had another miserable night at the plate, going 0-for-3 with a strikeout in Friday's loss to the Rangers.
Ackley, who has been working on revamping his stance at the plate, is now hitting .145/.190/.164 with one RBI on the season. With a capable replacement like Nick Franklin waiting in the wings, it may be best to give him some time to figure things out at the Triple-A level.

If everything goes smoothly, the center fielder should be back with Seattle early next week. He has been on the disabled list since April 23 with a hamstring strain.

Felix Hernandez wasn't sharp Sunday, allowing six runs -- five earned -- over just five innings in a loss to the Indians.
King Felix recorded eight strikeouts, but he allowed eight hits and walked a pair. The Mariners' ace left his last outing with a back issue, so it's possible it was an issue for him again today. As long as he's healthy, Hernandez is obviously a good bet to bounce back against the Rangers his next time out.

Aaron Harang was lit up for seven runs in 3 2/3 innings by the Angels on Tuesday.
Josh Hamilton and Howie Kendrick homered off him. Harang fell to 1-5 with an 8.58 ERA. The Mariners need to make a switch here, whether it's Jeremy Bonderman, Hector Noesi or James Paxton as the replacement. Erasmo Ramirez still isn't healthy, unfortunately.

Mariners transferred RHP Stephen Pryor from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
Pryor now won't be eligible to return until mid-June, but he wasn't going to be ready before then, anyway. The hard-thrower recently resumed his throwing program but has yet to test things out from a mound.

Kinney has been on the shelf all season because of a stress reaction in his left shoulder and rib cage. He's likely to spend around two weeks in the minor leagues.
