The Brewers consider Tim Dillard a strong candidate to make their Opening Day roster.
"He's got a good chance to make our bullpen," manager Ron Roenicke said. "What I see of him, I really like what he's doing. He can get a strikeout on a really good hitter and that shows me something. He's really nasty if he can do that.'' Dillard has a 3.38 ERA in two appearances this spring, and has enough of a track record with the Brewers to be used in a middle relief role. The 28-year-old posted a 24/4 K/BB ratio in 24 appearances last season.

Things could change, but the Brewers expect that Dillard will be their final September call-up. The 28-year-old right-hander has a 4.81 ERA and 24/4 K/BB ratio over 24 1/3 innings with the big club this season. Look for him in middle relief.

Dillard has posted a 4.81 ERA and 1.07 WHIP over 24 1/3 innings this season. He could be recalled when major league rosters expand on the first of September.

Brewers recalled RHP Tim Dillard from Triple-A Nashville.
The Brewers wanted to get another right for the pen, so Dillard regains his roster spot and Zach Braddock loses his. Dillard holds a 5.00 ERA but a 1.11 WHIP and 17/3 K/BB ratio in 18 innings with the Brew Crew this season.

Mat Gamel underwent surgery Tuesday to repair a torn ACL in his right knee.
Gamel also had surgery to repair a debridement of the lateral meniscus. He will miss the rest of the season. Travis Ishikawa, Taylor Green, Corey Hart and Brooks Conrad have all seen time at first base since his injury and the Brewers could eventually go outside the organization for a more stable solution.

It's just a procedural move. Gonzalez underwent season-ending surgery for a torn ACL about one week ago.

Chris Narveson underwent successful surgery Tuesday to repair the labrum and rotator cuff in his throwing shoulder.
Narveson will need nine months to recover, so he will miss the rest of the season and possibly the early part of spring training next year. The 30-year-old southpaw has made 28 starts for the Brewers in each of the past two seasons and will be arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter.

Brewers placed RHP Marco Estrada on the 15-day disabled list with a right quad strain.
Estrada suffered the injury on Wednesday night while running the bases. Brewers general manager Doug Melvin told a radio station in Milwaukee on Thursday morning that the 28-year-old right-hander will miss 3-4 starts. It's not yet clear who will be asked to fill in.
