Alfredo Aceves pitched five innings of one-run ball for a victory in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Rays.
Aceves was at just 75 pitches when the rains came and ended his outing. He walked three today, all in the second inning. That was when the run scored, too. Other than that, he was excellent for the third straight start. Whether he'll get another one anytime soon is up in the air.

Red Sox recalled RHP Alfredo Aceves from Triple-A Pawtucket.
Aceves will start the first game of Tuesday's day-night doubleheader against the Rays. The 31-year-old owns a 5.58 ERA and 22/19 K/BB ratio over 30 2/3 innings at the major league level this season.

Aceves held the Rays to one run over six innings last Wednesday and is a decent streaming option for those in AL-only leagues. The right-hander has allowed just two earned runs over his last 13 major league innings.

Red Sox placed RHP Clay Buchholz on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 9, with a strained neck.
Buchholz was able to throw a bullpen session on Tuesday, but evidently he's still not feeling well enough to make his start on Saturday. It's not clear at this point how long he'll be out. The Red Sox are expected to call up Allen Webster to start over the weekend.

Joel Hanrahan was upbeat Friday after he required Tommy John surgery in addition to flexor tendon surgery on Thursday.
Hanrahan will be in a cast for ten days, but will start the rehab process shortly thereafter. Either way, he's looking at a 12-to-14 month timetable for his return. Hanrahan, who is a free agent after the season, is a long way away from having any tangible fantasy value.

Red Sox placed RHP Clayton Mortensen on the 15-day disabled list with a right hip impingement.
Mortensen has been battling the injury since April and finally agreed to take a few weeks off. The right-hander has posted a 5.34 ERA in 30 1/3 innings this year.
