Andrew Cashner held the Nationals to three runs on seven hits over six-plus innings Sunday for his third win of the season.
He gave up just one walk and had six strikeouts. His lone mistake came on a two-run home run to Ryan Zimmerman in the fourth inning. Since converting to a starter, Cashner's fastball has averaged 94.8 mph, where he ranks second only to Stephen Strasburg. He's surrendered just four runs over his last 21 innings and remains a must-own in standard mixed fantasy leagues.

Andrew Cashner held the Orioles to two runs -- one earned -- over 7 1/3 innings Tuesday in a Padres victory.
Cashner was handed a no-decision because the Padres didn't lock up the win until the ninth inning. Cashner scattered four singles and one double, fanning three and issuing only one walk. He has been mostly solid since moving into the San Diego starting rotation and is a must-own right now in standard mixed fantasy leagues. The Nationals are next.

Andrew Cashner held the Marlins scoreless on four hits and three walks over 7 1/3 innings in Monday’s 5-0 win.
Cashner managed just four strikeouts against the feeble Marlins lineup and had to pitch out of a couple jams early in the game, but overall it was certainly a fine effort from the hard-thrower. The right-hander hasn’t piled up the strikeouts so far like you’d expect, but he’s looked good in two of his last three outings. He’ll be a strong play in Tampa over the weekend.

Andrew Cashner lasted only four innings on Wednesday, allowing five runs -- four earned -- in a loss to the Cubs.
Cashner was subpar throughout the start, allowing runs in all four of his innings. The right-hander looked great last Friday against the Giants, so we can hope this was merely an off night. Fortunately for the 26-year-old, he gets the Giancarlo Stanton-less Marlins his next time out.

Suspended
Yasmani Grandal will begin a minor league rehab assignment Saturday with Triple-A Tucson.
Grandal is still serving his 50-game suspension for a positive PED test, but he is allowed to begin a 10-game minor league assignment. The 24-year-old backstop is eligible to join the Padres on May 28 and may split playing time with Nick Hundley upon his return.

Logan Forsythe (foot) took batting practice on the field Thursday.
It's the first time he's done so since plantar fasciitis in his right foot sent him to the DL prior to the season. Forsythe also took ground balls before Thursday's game. "He's on the field doing baseball activities stuff, so he's on the way back," Padres manager Bud Black said. "He's on the mend." The team hasn't revealed a timetable for Forsythe, but he should be ready sometime next month if all goes well.

Maybin was recently cleared to resume hitting activities and hasn't had any setbacks. On the disabled list since April 17, he should be close to making his return. Maybin was hitting just .091/.167/.121 with no home runs prior to the injury but offers plenty of fantasy potential when healthy.

Clayton Richard (illness) will make a second rehab start with Triple-A Tucson.
Richard struck out eight over six innings of one-run ball Thursday for Tucson, but the Padres want him to have another tune-up. "He feels good about where he is right now, how his arm feels and how he feels physically in general, from the whole bad virus he contracted," manager Bud Black said. Assuming Richard feels fine in his next outing, he could rejoin the rotation as soon as next weekend.

Cory Luebke (elbow) has had his throwing program stopped for the second time this year in his attempt to return from Tommy John surgery.
Luebke was shut down in early March before resuming sessions of catch on April 1, and he had progressed to throwing off a mound before this latest setback. Obviously none of this bodes well for his mission to return to live major league games by the All-Star break.

Joe Wieland (elbow) threw a bullpen session Friday at the Padres' spring training complex.
Wieland, currently on the 60-day disabled list, is nine months removed from Tommy John surgery and will continued to be moved along slowly. If he can avoid setbacks, Wieland should be game-ready sometime after the All-Star break.
