Dayan Viciedo is batting clean-up Saturday against the Cubs.
Viciedo is 9-for-24 (.375) in his last seven games and will fill in for Paul Konerko as he recovers from a laceration and swelling above his left eye. Viciedo’s plate discipline, of course, still needs work, but he has legitimate 20 home run potential.

Dayan Viciedo went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Angels.
The multi-hit night was Viciedo's third straight, while the home run was his second in three games. He took Jerome Williams deep in the third. The mini-hot streak has upped Viciedo's triple slash from a brutal .196/.226/.304 to .237/.263/.386. Viciedo is worth a flier if you're desperate for outfield help in your deeper mixed league, but don't be surprised if this isn't a sign of things to come.

Dayan Viciedo went 2-for-4 with a homer, a run scored and a career-high four RBI in a 7-5 win over the Tigers on Monday night.
Viciedo connected for a two-run blast off Drew Smyly in the bottom of the fifth and added a two-run single in the very next inning. It was his first multi-hit game since April 29 and his first home run since April 26. With a measly .210/.239/.343 batting line to go along with an ugly 31/3 K/BB ratio, he'll need to do a lot better before becoming a legitimate consideration in mixed leagues.

Dayan Viciedo returned to action in Monday's doubleheader against the Indians, first as a pinch-hitter (0-for-1), and then as a starter (1-for-3).
Viciedo was hit in the right elbow on Sunday, but clearly it's not very serious. He is trudging along with a .221/.247/.349 batting line.

Brent Morel will not need surgery to repair a lumbar back strain.
"My pain is more extension, so if I was to bend back or when I get in a ready position [on defense], and it's more ... called something like the facet or the knuckle around the disc, which is really good news," Morel said. "They were happy to find that out. It's never operated on. It can be controlled very easily in the training room, and by calming it down." Morel will begin new back exercises Thursday, a process he'll continue for 4-5 days. After that, he'll be allowed to hit and throw before going out on a rehab assignment.

John Danks said he is currently dealing with soreness behind his left shoulder.
Danks has been scratched from Friday's start against the Indians and is expected to be placed on the disabled list. Jose Quintana will be called up from Double-A Birmingham to pitch in his place Friday. It's clear how long Danks has been pitching through the soreness, but this would certainly explain why he has struggled so much in the early going. The southpaw hopes to return on June 4, but White Sox manager Robin Ventura seems to think he won't need a minor league rehab assignment.
