Indians signed RHP Joe Martinez to a minor league contract.
Martinez refused an outright assignment from the Diamondbacks this offseason and will look to compete for a bullpen spot with the Indians. The deal includes an invite to spring training.

He's refused an outright assignment from the Diamondbacks and will now look to catch on elsewhere. Martinez, 29, holds an ugly 6.22 ERA over 50 2/3 career major league innings.

Diamondbacks recalled RHP Joe Martinez from Triple-A Reno.
Martinez appeared in just one game for the D'Backs this season and was horrible in his time at Triple-A. He'll have to pitch really well next spring to put himself in consideration for a roster spot.

Martinez made just one relief appearance during his six-day stay in the major leagues. The righty will continue to provide organizational relief depth for the Snakes.

Lou Marson (shoulder) admitted Monday that there is no timetable for his return to the Indians' active roster.
Marson has begun throwing but is not yet performing any other baseball activities due to lingering soreness in his shoulder and neck. "It's definitely frustrating," the catcher told MLB.com. "I know what it is and kind of what I have to do. Hopefully, I can get on the field soon."

Myers threw 33 pitches last week in his first rehab start and will probably try to top 50 pitches on Wednesday. He'll make at least one more start in the minors after that before being considered for activation. The right-hander is attempting to pitch through a UCL tear.

Indians placed RHP Josh Tomlin on the 60-day disabled list with a right elbow injury.
The move was made in order to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for the arrival of Michael Bourn. Tomlin is recovering from Tommy John surgery and is expected to miss the entire 2013 campaign.

Wood felt some soreness in his surgically-repaired elbow during his first appearance on Saturday, but it was only a minor scare. The 27-year-old right-hander is currently in recovery mode from Tommy John surgery and will likely need a handful of appearances before he's a legitimate consideration for the major league roster.

The move clears a spot for the newly-claimed Robert Whitenack on the 40-man roster. Herrmann had Tommy John surgery in March and will miss the entire 2013 season.
