Hisashi Iwakuma didn’t have it Wednesday in the Mariners’ Cactus League tie with the Dodgers, allowing three hits, two runs and four walks over just 1 2/3 innings.
Only 26 of his 52 pitches went for strikes. The Dodgers sent six men to the plate in the first inning, scoring one run on two hits and two walks. It could have been worse for Iwakuma but Scott Van Slyke bailed him out by getting thrown out at home plate to end the inning. Iwakuma was in the midst of another difficult frame before finally getting the hook from manager Scott Servais with two outs in the second inning. Coming off his worst season as a big leaguer, Iwakuma will finish the spring with a dismal 7.13 ERA over six Cactus League starts. For fantasy, he’s only an option in deeper mixed leagues and AL-only formats. Mar 29 - 7:36 PM
