Rockies purchased the contract of OF Tim Wheeler from Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Wheeler's power disappeared in 2012 after surgery to remove the hamate bone from his right hand, as he hit just two homers in 379 at-bats following a 33-homer outburst in 2011. He's now on the 40-man roster and will try to get back on track in 2013.

Rockies prospect OF Tim Wheeler will undergo surgery for a hamate injury in his right hand.
The 32nd pick in the 2009 draft, Wheeler was hitting .200 with two doubles and four RBI at Triple-A Colorado Springs. Wheeler's 33 home runs last season broke the single-season record for Double-A Tulsa. The injury is expected to sideline him about a month.

Double-A Tulsa's Tim Wheeler went long twice on Tuesday, giving him a remarkable 24 homers on the season.
Wheeler is absolutely crushing Texas League pitching, batting .313/.394/.602 in 352 at-bats. The 23-year-old also has 15 steals, and is a name to keep in your back pocket for the 2012 season.

Rockies agreed to terms with outfielder Tim Wheeler.
The 32nd pick in the draft, Wheeler is a left-handed hitter who projects as a potential leadoff option. The Denver Post reports that he'll be assigned to the Rockies' short-season Single-A affiliate at Tri-City.

Michael Cuddyer (neck) will play two games in extended spring training this week and is expected to be activated from the disabled list Friday.
Cuddyer will fly to Arizona on Monday night and play in games on Tuesday and Wednesday. Barring any setbacks, he should be ready to go as soon as he's eligible on Friday. The 34-year-old has been sidelined since May 8 with a bulging disc in his neck.

It will be the first time he's thrown from the bump since landing on the disabled list. Francis' groin isn't fully healed, but he shouldn't be out too much longer as long as he continues to progress. Whether he'll have a rotation spot once healthy remains to be seen.

Edwar Cabrera (left shoulder impingement) threw a 45-pitch bullpen session last month.
We've read nothing further regarding Cabrera, which probably means he isn't close to a rehab assignment. The 25-year-old lefty was placed on the 60-day disabled list in February. He's eligible for activation, but not healthy enough to pitch. Cabrera ranked as Colorado's ninth best prospect by MLB.com this offseason.

Rafael Betancourt (groin) will not require a trip to the disabled list.
Betancourt left Tuesday's game with a tight right groin, but it's merely some scar tissue from a previous injury. He was given anti-inflammatory medication and could be back in there as soon as Friday. Rex Brothers and Wilton Lopez could be in the mix for save chances until he's ready to go, but it doesn't sound like he'll have a lengthy absence.
