The Orioles plan to move prospect right-hander Matt Hobgood to the bullpen this season.
Hobgood, the No. 5 overall pick in 2009, didn't pitch at all last season due to rotator cuff surgery. The Orioles are hopeful that he'll get his velocity back quicker as a reliever. He's expected to begin the year with Single-A Delmarva.

Orioles prospect right-hander Matt Hobgood (shoulder) is expected to be medically cleared for spring training.
The former fifth overall pick, Hobgood hasn't pitched since appearing in eight games with the Orioles' Low-A affiliate in 2011. Now a full year removed from rotator cuff surgery, he should be on track to resume his career in Baltimore's minor league system, and is confident that he'll be able return for the start of the 2013 season.

The young righty will throw 15-20 innings in the instructional league in preparation for next spring.

It's been very slow progress for Betemit in his recovery from surgery to repair a PCL tear in his right knee. He still has yet to be cleared to resume baseball activities, and the timetable for his return continues to be pushed back. He's virtually irrelevant for fantasy purposes at this point.

Orioles placed OF Nolan Reimold on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 12, with a right hamstring strain.
It's the reason why Reimold was held out of the Orioles' lineup for the fifth straight day Saturday. Chris Dickerson will likely get the majority of starts at designated hitter in his absence. Given his injury history, Reimold could be looking at an extended stay on the DL.

Wei-Yin Chen (oblique) will head to the Orioles' spring training complex Tuesday to begin his rehab.
Chen landed on the 15-day disabled list May 13 with a strained right oblique and can't pick up a baseball for at least another week. But he's allowed to do cardio work while he waits. The right-hander should be ready to rejoin the O's starting rotation in early June.

Tsuyoshi Wada (elbow) allowed four runs over four innings Thursday in a rehab start at Triple-A Norfolk.
Wada gave up three hits and issued two walks but he fanned five batters and made it all the way to 78 pitches (45 of which were strikes). He's on his way back from Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery and is aiming to join the Orioles' starting rotation at some point in early-to-mind June. The left-hander signed a two-year, $8.15 million contract with the O's in December 2011 but has not yet thrown a pitch in a major league game.
