Mariners optioned OF Trayvon Robinson to Triple-A Tacoma.
Acquired from the Dodgers in the Erik Bedard deal last July, Robinson is considered ''toolsy'' with projectable power and good speed, and was reportedly ''in the mix'' for playing time in left field. It's not unrealistic to think he could reappear in the majors by midseason. The Mariners also reassigned left-handers Sean Henn and Oliver Perez, and right-handers Matt Fox, Aaron Heilman, Josh Kinney and Jeff Marquez to minor league camp.

Trayvon Robinson went 3-for-4 and hit his first homer of the spring Sunday versus the Giants.
Robinson is back in the mix for a job in the Seattle outfield following Franklin Gutierrez's injury, but it still seems more likely that he's Triple-A bound. Of course, the 6-for-12 start to his spring does help his chances a bit.

Trayvon Robinson will be limited during workouts Thursday due to a tight left hamstring.
Robinson will hit and throw on Thursday, but won't push things by running. It doesn't sound like a major concern and the 24-year-old outfielder should be back to normal within the next few days.

Trayvon Robinson hit a solo home run in Seattle's loss to the Angels on Wednesday.
Robinson's sixth-inning blast would be the only hit the Mariners could muster in a 3-1 loss. The home run was just his second in 25 games since making his big-league debut on August 5, but he's hitting a respectable .274/.319/.464. He's likely playing his way into Seattle's 2012 plans.

Franklin Gutierrez felt no pain in his right heel Thursday, one day after throwing and running in front of Mariners trainers.
"No pain, and that’s great," he said. "The goal is the same, to get healthy, get back here and help this team win. When I woke up (Thursday) morning, there was no pain at all." Gutierrez has been cleared to run, throw and take batting practice with teammates, which he hasn’t done since spring training. He'll begin playing in extended spring training games in Arizona on Sunday, and the hope is that he'll be ready by late June.

George Sherrill is scheduled to undergo Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery in early May.
He's out for the year and may just decide to call it quits. Sherrill hasn't pitched since the Mariners' Opening Day series in Japan. The veteran southpaw had a 3.00 ERA in 36 innings last year for the Braves and agreed to a one-year, $1.1 million contract with Seattle in December. He lasted 1 1/3 innings. The Mariners will go with Charlie Furbush and Lucas Luetke for left-handed relief in the short-term.
