Kenley Jansen took the loss after allowing two runs in the eighth inning Saturday against the Braves.
Chris Capuano was spinning a gem, but he got pulled after allowing a one-out single in the bottom of the eighth and Jansen promptly surrendered a go-ahead two-run shot to Evan Gattis. Jansen then yielded a solo shot to Braves shortstop Andrelton Simmons. Brandon League is the primary closer in Los Angeles until further notice.

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly would not name Kenley Jansen his closer when asked after Tuesday's game.
Mattingly said on Monday that Brandon League was still his closer, but it was Jansen, not League, that closed out the 2-0 win over the Nationals Tuesday by striking out the last batter. League never even warmed up. "In that game, I had to go with the guy who's throwing the ball best; as much as anything he's been throwing the ball better than anybody," Mattingly said of Jansen. It's possible League will get the next save opportunity, but it's clear Jansen is the guy Mattingly trusts more. He should officially have the job before long.

Kenley Jansen got one out in the ninth to earn his second save of the year Tuesday against the Nationals.
Manager Don Mattingly said Brandon League was the closer Monday, but he made it clear tonight that Jansen is the guy he has faith in. It was Jansen who warming up in both the eighth and ninth innings with Clayton Kershaw fatiguing, and when Jansen got the call with two outs in the ninth, he fanned Tyler Moore on four pitches. Whether this means it's now Jansen's job is up for debate. One thing is for sure: he should be owned in all formats.

Kenley Jansen took the loss for the Dodgers on Wednesday after giving up a solo homer to Paul Goldschmidt in the eighth.
Bad timing for Jansen, what with Brandon League likely one blown save away from coughing up the closer's gig. Of course, what had gotten League into trouble was allowing homers in tie games twice. That's what Jansen did tonight.

Hairston is on the DL with a left groin strain, but it appears that the knee might be a bigger issue at the moment. However, he still played in an extended spring training game Monday, so it appears that it's not a significant setback. He could still be ready to return before the end of the month.

He did so without discomfort, something he was unable to do over the weekend. Beckett will throw off the mound soon before testing out his groin by running. The Dodgers haven't set a timetable for his return, but early June seems likely if all goes well.

The move clears a spot for Scott Van Slyke on the 40-man roster. Billingsley had season-ending Tommy John surgery last month and will likely miss the early part of 2014.

"But he's going in the right direction," the skipper added. Elbert has made four rehab appearances, but it appears he's not terribly close to being activated from the disabled list.

Shawn Tolleson is scheduled to undergo surgery on his injured lower back on Thursday afternoon.
Tolleson was placed on the disabled list April 15 with a lower back strain and now needs surgery to repair the injury. He is expected to be sidelined for 3-5 months and could feasibly miss the rest of the season.
