Nolan Arenado launched a walk-off solo homer in a 10-9 win over the Padres on Friday.
It was his fifth home run in the big leagues and his first since May 16. Arenado went 2-for-5 with two RBI on the night and also made a key defensive play in the seventh inning. The rookie third baseman now has three straight multi-hit games, pulling his batting average up from .221 to .250 in the process. More peaks and valleys are to be expected, but playing half of his games in Coors Field should continue to make him relevant in deeper mixed leagues.

Nolan Arenado went 0-for-4 against the Reds on Monday, dropping his average to .221.
The Rockies won't be bailing on Arenado anytime soon, but it would be for the best if they could keep him out of the two hole. He started there tonight despite the host of better OBPs present in the Rockies lineup.

Nolan Arenado went 0-for-3 with a pair of walks and a run in Sunday's loss to the Giants.
The youngster has hit a rough patch at the plate, having not recorded a multi-hit game since May 14. In his first seven games for the Rockies, Arenado slashed .323/.364/.677 with three homers and eight RBI. That spun the hype machine out of control and the 22-year-old rookie has batted an ugly .206/.219/.317 with one homer and three RBI in his 64 plate appearances since. Arenado should be removed from mixed league lineups until he shows signs of life.

Arenado has hit his first bump in the road, as he's now hitless over his last 14 at-bats. Struggles are to be expected from a 22-year-old rookie, but we still think he'll produce enough to be relevant in most mixed leagues. Playing half of his games in Coors Field should help his chances.

Rockies placed SS Troy Tulowitzki on the 15-day disabled list with a right rib fracture.
Tulowitzki had been dealing with rib soreness for a week and aggravated the injury while making a diving stop during Thursday's game. The injury a brutal blow for the Rockies and fantasy owners alike, as the 28-year-old is batting .347/.413/.635 with 16 homers and 51 RBI this season. He's expected to miss 4-6 weeks.

Tyler Chatwood held the Phillies to two runs over five innings Saturday in the Rockies' victory.
It was Chatwood's first start back from a triceps issue and he looked fairly sharp over his 84 pitches (50 of which were strikes). The righty scattered seven hits and three walks, striking out one. He will carry a 2.33 ERA into his next scheduled outing against the Nationals.

We've read nothing further regarding Cabrera, which probably means he isn't close to a rehab assignment. The 25-year-old lefty was placed on the 60-day disabled list in February. He's eligible for activation, but not healthy enough to pitch. Cabrera ranked as Colorado's ninth best prospect by MLB.com this offseason.

Rafael Betancourt (groin) threw a 35-pitch bullpen session on Tuesday and reported feeling fine.
Betancourt will face live hitters on Friday and could then be cleared for a minor league rehab assignment. The veteran right-hander will be back in the Rockies' bullpen by the end of this month if everything continues to go smoothly. Rex Brothers is filling in at closer and doing a fine job.
