The Angels are expected to move Garrett Richards back to the bullpen.
Jerome Williams is expected to take his place in the rotation and should start on Sunday against the Orioles. It's a tough break for Richards, who despite the 5.04 ERA hasn't been terrible in the rotation. He owns a terrific 1.09 WHIP and 23/8 K/BB ratio over his 30 1/3 innings of work on the season and his xFIP sits at 3.56. The talented 24-year-old could receive another shot in the rotation before long.

Garrett Richards was tagged for seven runs in 5 2/3 innings by the A's in Tuesday's loss.
Richards has a 1.09 WHIP, and he's allowed just three homers in 30 1/3 innings. That's a combination that should result in an ERA in the low-3.00s, maybe even the high-2.00s. Instead, Richards is at 5.04 right now, largely because he's done great with the bases empty and poorly while working from the stretch. We still think he's worth playing in AL-only leagues with Jered Weaver out.

Garrett Richards yielded five runs in seven innings Thursday in a loss to the Mariners.
It was an appealing matchup on paper, so those who streamed him in mixed leagues have to be pretty disappointed. Richards allowed nine hits in the loss, which was more than his first six appearances (including two starts) this season combined. Still, the talented young right-hander owns a quality 3.65 ERA and 19/6 K/BB ratio over 24 2/3 innings of work this season and should continue to be useful in AL-only formats while Jered Weaver (elbow) is sidelined. He'll face the Athletics next Tuesday in Oakland.

Garrett Richards hurled seven scoreless innings Saturday as the Angels defeated the Tigers.
Richards was fantastic, fanning eight Detroit batters and allowing only two hits over his seven dominant frames. The right-hander is filling in for the injured Jered Weaver and will face off against the Mariners next.

Peter Bourjos (hamstring) continues to receive treatment in Arizona, and will rejoin the team when they return to Anaheim on Monday.
Even the most optimistic of time frames have Bourjos returning to the lineup at the end of May or beginning of June. Hamstring injuries can be extremely detrimental to players like Bourjos who rely so heavily on their speed, as they tend to linger and pose a high re-injury risk. J.B. Shuck will continue to see additional time in left field while Bourjos is sidelined.

Weaver was hoping to embark on a minor league rehab assignment, but the Angels want him to throw one more time in a controlled environment at their spring training complex in Arizona. He is still on track to return to the Anaheim rotation at some point in early June.

Hanson's been away from the team since early May due to the death of his step-brother. The Angels will use their off day next Monday to skip the No. 5 starter before hopefully getting Hanson back that weekend.

Ryan Madson (elbow) will move his rehab assignment up to Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday and will remain there for "several weeks."
Madson thinks he's ready to be activated now, but the Angels have decided to slow things down in order to avoid re-injury. The reliever said he respects the team's decision but thinks he can "pitch here today and get people out. That's just how I feel." It sounds like he won't join the Halos' bullpen until sometime next month.

Sean Burnett reported no pain in his left forearm after playing catch on Sunday afternoon.
Burnett made his first minor league rehab appearance on Saturday and came out of it feeling fine. He is on track to return to the Angels' bullpen early this week.

Kevin Jepsen (triceps) is expected to begin a rehab assignment early next week.
Jepsen has been sidelined since April 12 with a strained right shoulder, but resumed throwing from a mound last weekend and hasn't had any setbacks. He remains on track to return from the DL sometime later this month.

Angels transferred LHP Andrew Taylor from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
Taylor was diagnosed with a small tear in his labrum last month. While he won't need surgery, it's unclear how long he'll be sidelined. The 26-year-old posted a 4.27 ERA and 56/25 K/BB ratio over 59 innings between Double- and Triple-A last year.
