T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports that Jurickson Profar could be the Rangers' best bargaining chip to acquire starting pitching this winter.
The Rangers have Elvis Andrus at shortstop, Rougned Odor at second base, and Adrian Beltre at third, so Profar is an expendable piece if the right deal comes along. Sullivan notes a potential Chris Sale trade with the White Sox as one scenario. But the Rangers also see value in his ability to play a super utility role. Profar made starts at five different positions and the DH spot this season. While he batted just .239/.321/.328 over 307 plate appearances, the playing time was sporadic and he essentially missed two full years due to shoulder problems. The former top prospect won't turn 24 until February and remains under team control through 2019, so plenty of teams would be willing to take a chance on him. Nov 10 - 11:14 PM
