Brewers recalled RHP Mike Fiers from High-A Brevard County.
Tom Gorzelanny was placed on the disabled list Saturday, so the Brewers needed another reliever. Through his first three appearances (two in relief, one as a starter) with Milwaukee this season, Fiers owns an 8.59 ERA, 1.77 WHIP and 1/2 K/BB ratio in 7 1/3 frames. He will carry no fantasy relevance no matter his role.

Mike Fiers has been transferred from Triple-A Nashville to High-A Brevard County so that he can attend to a personal situation closer to his home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Fiers was demoted last month, but he posted a 1.59 ERA and 17/9 K/BB ratio in 17 innings over three starts in Triple-A. The Brewers were happy to accommodate his request, but are hopeful that he'll be able to return to Nashville before long.

Brewers optioned RHP Mike Fiers to Triple-A Nashville.
Not unexpected, as Fiers struggled in his lone start on April 6 and was already scratched from his scheduled start on Saturday. He'll try to work through his mechanical issues in the minors. It's not clear who will replace him in the rotation, but Tyler Thornburg and Hiram Burgos are among the internal options.

After a poor spring training, Fiers was knocked around for six runs over five innings in his lone start this season, and the Brewers aren't sure they want to give him another one. It's possible he'll get another shot, but the club won't hesitate to use him in relief before then if needed. "It will come down to what happens in some of these games," manager Ron Roenicke said. "If Fiers gets in them, or we think Fiers is needed to be our long guy in the bullpen, then we'll try to go grab somebody else. But it's going to come down, probably, to a couple of days before that start." Tyler Thornburg and Hiram Burgos are options to replace Fiers.

It's the first time he's done so since undergoing knee surgery. Hart admitted that the running was "awkward," but he could be ready for a rehab assignment in about a week. The assignment is expected to take a while, so it will likely be well into June before Hart is activated.

It's a procedural move, as Gamel required surgery in early March to repair a torn right ACL and is expected to miss the entire 2013 season. The Brewers now have an opening on their 40-man roster.

Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said Wednesday that Kyle Lohse began feeling discomfort in his right elbow "two or three starts ago" and was recovering slower than usual between starts.
As a result, the Brewers have scratched him from his next scheduled start on Saturday. The Brewers are hopeful that it's not a major issue, but this isn't what you want to hear from someone who is in the first year of a three-year, $33 million contract.

Chris Narveson (finger) is scheduled to face live hitters on Friday.
It will come after another successful bullpen session on Tuesday. If Friday's session goes well, Narveson will begin a rehab assignment early next week. "The finger felt good. Just kind of taking it day by day and see how it goes Friday against hitters," Narveson said. "You’re just trying to prepare yourself and get your body ready to pitch again. I think you expect yourself to hit the ground running once you come back."

Gorzelanny threw 20 pitches in a live batting practice on Tuesday with no issues. He'll be making his return when first eligible.

Mark Rogers (shoulder) has been pulled from his minor league rehab assignment.
Rogers had a rough 11.12 ERA and 1/8 K/BB ratio in 5 2/3 innings with Double-A Huntsville and left his most recent appearance on Tuesday due to tingling in his right arm. The 27-year-old has a long injury history and began the season on the disabled list with what was termed as right shoulder instability. He has been sent back to Phoenix for further testing, after which we should know more about the next step.
