Robbie Ross has been moved back to the bullpen.
Ross has put up a 3.07 ERA over 14 2/3 Cactus League innings, but the Rangers prefer to keep him in the bullpen, where he posted a 2.22 mark as a rookie last year. The competition for the No. 5 starter spot is down to Nick Tepesch, Randy Wells, Derek Lowe and Justin Grimm, with Tepesch looking like the favorite at the moment.

Robbie Ross tossed three scoreless innings in Sunday's win over the Cubs.
Ross was supposed to pitch five innings, but had to be removed after working up a high pitch count. It was a wildly effective outing, as he allowed three walks and gave up four hits. Ross is competing with Justin Grimm and non-roster invite Nick Tepesch for the final spot in the Rangers' Opening Day rotation.

Robbie Ross allowed two runs on three hits and was pulled in the third inning of Sunday's win over the Indians.
Ross was scheduled to throw four innings but was taken out early after working up a high pitch-count. He gave up three walks and struggled with his command. It was his worst performance to date, so it shouldn't be a major concern on his chances of winning an Opening Day rotation spot. Justin Grimm came on late for the Rangers and picked up the save after allowing just one run over the final three innings.

Robbie Ross tossed four innings of one-run ball in Wednesday's win over the Cubs.
Ross allowed four hits -- including a solo homer to Scott Hairston -- while striking out one and walking no one. The southpaw sports a 3.00 ERA and 1.11 WHIP over his first nine innings this spring and might be the favorite for the fifth spot in the rotation following Martin Perez's injury. That's assuming, of course, that the Rangers don't seek help outside the organization.

Mitch Moreland (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment at Double-A Frisco on Monday.
Moreland was cleared after running the bases on Sunday with no issues. He'll play at Frisco for three games before being activated on Friday, the first day he's eligible. The first baseman has been out since June 6 with a right hamstring strain.

The move is retroactive to June 13, so Baker will be allowed to return in less than 15 days if he's feeling well enough. He suffered the right thumb sprain last week while trying to give a high-five to a teammate.

Good news, but Harrison will be restricted to flat ground work for another 4-6 weeks before getting back on a mound. Even then, he'll likely need another month to build up his workload. The southpaw isn't expected to rejoin the Rangers' rotation until September, though he could provide a nice boost down the stretch.

Ogando still has some soreness in his right shoulder, and the Rangers aren't going to let him thrown from the mound until he's completely pain-free. He'll need to go out on a rehab assignment after throwing off a mound at least a couple times, so the right-hander isn't close to returning.

It's the first time he's done so since he was shut down after feeling soreness in the back of his right elbow. Lewis will likely need several more mound sessions before facing hitters, so he's not close to resuming his rehab assignment.
