SS	1	Jason Bartlett D.L. Dan Hayes of the North County Times writes that the Padres have "made it clear the shortstop position is (Everth) Cabrera's to win." Jason Bartlett (knee) was placed on the DL Thursday, and he'll likely slide into a backup role when he returns or possibly follow Orland Hudson to the unemployment line. "It wasn't working here," general manager Josh Byrnes said. "(The move) wasn't motivated by money, it was motivated by trying someone new to see if we can get better performance. Obviously our record is not what we want. This particular move is to see if these guys can give us a shot in the arm. Jason understands these guys are coming up and there's no guarantee of a job waiting on the other side. That's just the way we're set up now." May 18

	2	James Darnell D.L. An MRI on James Darnell's left shoulder showed that his surgically-repaired labrum was intact. Good news. Darnell will have another MRI in a few weeks to be sure, but it sounds like he's avoided another major injury. He doesn't have a timetable to return, however. May 20

	2	Kyle Blanks D.L. Padres transferred INF-OF Kyle Blanks from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list. It's just a procedural move to get him off the 40-man roster, as Blanks is already out for the season following surgery to repair the labrum in his left shoulder. May 2

	2	Mark Kotsay D.L. Mark Kotsay (back) received a cortisone injection Monday. Kotsay had to exit last Saturday's game with tightness in his lower back. Barring a setback, he should be back when eligible. May 22
RF	1	Carlos Quentin D.L. Carlos Quentin (knee) has rejoined High-A Lake Elsinore to resume his rehab assignment. Quentin had to be shut down after playing two games for Lake Elsinore earlier this month when he developed soreness in his surgically-repaired right knee. The Padres aren't putting a timetable on his return. "The last time we talked, (Quentin) didn't feel good in his stance, and now he says he feels good in his stance, so he's gonna play (Friday) and see how he's doing," manager Bud Black said. "I think that time off gave him just what he needed, so we'll see how he does and take it day to day." May 25

	3	Jeremy Hermida D.L. Jeremy Hermida underwent surgery Tuesday afternoon in Philadelphia to repair a sports hernia. Hermida is expected to miss between four and six weeks, meaning he will be out until at least mid-June. The 28-year-old outfielder was 6-for-24 before the injury. May 15

	2	Cory Luebke D.L. Cory Luebke underwent successful Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery on Wednesday. The surgery was performed by Dr. Lewis Yocum. Luebke will miss the rest of the season and likely the early part of 2013, but he still has plenty of promise. The 27-year-old southpaw has a 3.25 ERA over his first 188 1/3 innings in the big leagues. May 24

	4	Tim Stauffer D.L. Tim Stauffer is getting a second opinion on his right elbow. Stauffer made his season debut last week before returning to the disabled list with recurring soreness in the flexor tendon bundle in his elbow. There's no current timetable for his return. May 24

	6	Joe Wieland D.L. Joe Wieland (elbow) is aiming to begin a throwing program within the next few days. Wieland has been on the disabled list (retroactively) since May 7 and should be ready to return shortly after he's eligible. The 22-year-old right-hander had a 4.55 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 24/9 K/BB ratio through his first 27 2/3 innings this season. May 16

	9	Dustin Moseley D.L. Padres transferred RHP Dustin Moseley from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list. The move clears a spot for Dale Thayer on the 40-man roster.
