Brewers general manager Gord Ash said Friday that prospect Taylor Jungmann, who is currently on the minor league disabled list, is dealing with a nerve issue affecting the fingers on his right hand.
Jungmann, the 12th overall pick in 2011, had been off to a brutal start to his 2013 campaign at Double-A Huntsville, posting a 7.89 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 16/14 K/BB ratio over 21 2/3 innings. The injury provides some context for his early struggles. The organization hopes that being proactive in prescribing rest and treatment will alleviate the symptoms before the issue becomes more serious.

Brewers agreed to terms with first-round pick RHP Taylor Jungmann.
The Brewers gave him a signing bonus of $2.525 million. Jungmann, 21, was selected 12th overall in June's draft. He was a finalist for the Golden Spikes Award this past season at the University of Texas, posting a 1.60 ERA and 126 strikeouts over 141 innings. Regarded as one of the most polished arms in the draft, he could arrive in the majors before the end of the 2012 season.

Brewers selected Texas right-hander Taylor Jungmann with the 12th pick.
Jungmann was a rock-solid pitcher for the Longhorns, going 13-1 with a 1.40 ERA this season, and one of the most polished arms in the draft. His low-90s fastball, curve and changeup all project as major league pitches. He may not be the most exciting selection, but he's a good value here, and he might be a candidate to join the Milwaukee rotation before the end of next year.

Hart has begun running recently without assistance, but he's just not going to be far enough along in a couple weeks to be activated from the 60-day DL. The first baseman is more likely to return within the first couple weeks of June.

It's a procedural move, as Gamel required surgery in early March to repair a torn right ACL and is expected to miss the entire 2013 season. The Brewers now have an opening on their 40-man roster.

It's a move made in order to clear 40-man roster space for Francisco Rodriguez. Green is out for the season after undergoing hip surgery last month.

The 30-year-old southpaw has been one of the few dependable arms in the Brewers' bullpen this season, boasting a 2.30 ERA and 0.89 WHIP over his first 15 2/3 innings. Mike Fiers has been recalled to take his place.

Mark Rogers (shoulder) has been pulled from his minor league rehab assignment.
Rogers had a rough 11.12 ERA and 1/8 K/BB ratio in 5 2/3 innings with Double-A Huntsville and left his most recent appearance on Tuesday due to tingling in his right arm. The 27-year-old has a long injury history and began the season on the disabled list with what was termed as right shoulder instability. He has been sent back to Phoenix for further testing, after which we should know more about the next step.
