White Sox acquired SS Osvaldo Martinez and RHP Jhan Marinez from the Marlins for manager Ozzie Guillen.
The odd agreement was finalized on Tuesday afternoon, with Guillen signing a four-year contract to the be the new manager of the Miami Marlins. Martinez, a 23-year-old infielder, was selected in the 11th round of the 2006 MLB Amateur Draft. He's a decent defender with good speed, but is far from a major prospect. Marinez is a 23-year-old middle reliever.

Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com reports that Osvaldo Martinez will be sent to the White Sox along with a minor league pitcher in exchange for manager Ozzie Guillen.
Martinez, 23, was an 11th round selection in the 2006 MLB Amateur Draft. Known more for his defense than offense, he batted just .245/.296/.322 with three home runs and 26 RBI in 371 plate appearances this season at Triple-A New Orleans. He can't really be considered a prospect. The trade is expected to go final on Wednesday.

Marlins optioned INF Osvaldo Martinez to Triple-A New Orleans.
Martinez was up for nearly a week but received just three plate appearances and didn't get a hit. He's being sent down to clear room for Omar Infante, who will return from the disabled list.

Marlins recalled INF Osvaldo Martinez from Triple-A New Orleans.
Martinez has a .158 batting average over 19 at-bats in two stints with the big club this season. He'll serve as middle infield depth with Hanley Ramirez and Omar Infante on the DL.

Brent Morel will not need surgery to repair a lumbar back strain.
"My pain is more extension, so if I was to bend back or when I get in a ready position [on defense], and it's more ... called something like the facet or the knuckle around the disc, which is really good news," Morel said. "They were happy to find that out. It's never operated on. It can be controlled very easily in the training room, and by calming it down." Morel will begin new back exercises Thursday, a process he'll continue for 4-5 days. After that, he'll be allowed to hit and throw before going out on a rehab assignment.

White Sox placed LHP John Danks on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 20, with a sore left shoulder.
The move announced Thursday and has not become official. Danks is dealing with soreness behind his left shoulder, and although he hopes to return in early June, it's no sure thing. Jose Quintana has been called up and will take Danks' spot in the rotation Friday.
