Royals optioned LHP Justin Marks to Triple-A Omaha.
Marks gave up one run in four innings over three appearances this spring. The 25-year-old had a 4.50 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 81/44 K/BB ratio in 92 innings last season between three different levels of the Royals' farm system and was added to the 40-man roster in November.

Marks had a 4.50 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 81/44 K/BB ratio in 92 innings this past season between three different levels of the Royals' farm system. The 24-year-old is now a member of the Royals' 40-man roster.

Justin Marks earned the victory on Monday, tossing six shutout innings for Single-A Wilmington.
Marks gave up four hits and three walks while striking out five. The 23-year-old has a pedestrian 4.28 ERA this season, but he's also struck out nearly a batter per inning. And he's been quite effective recently, compiling a 2.16 ERA in his last five starts.

Royals acquired LHP Justin Marks and RHP Vin Mazzaro from the Athletics for OF David DeJesus.
Marks isn't just a throw in. He posted a 1.35 WHIP and registered 136 strikeouts in 129 1/3 innings this year at two different levels of Single-A and should be ready for the Double-A level in 2011. The 22-year-old left-hander was drafted in the third round of the 2009 draft.

Dyson is dealing with a high right ankle sprain. He had been receiving more starts before the injury and again could threaten Jeff Francoeur for playing time once healthy.

Danny Duffy (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Northwest Arkansas on Sunday.
He'll throw 60 pitches for the Naturals. Making his way back from Tommy John surgery, Duffy will surely require the full 30 days on his rehab assignment. Assuming the results are there and his arm strength is back, he should be added to the Royals' rotation in late June. The left-hander is worth stashing on the DL if you have the roster space.

Felipe Paulino (elbow) threw 25 pitches of live batting practice on Saturday.
It's Paulino's second such session as he continues his recovery from Tommy John surgery. The Royals are hoping that Paulino will be able to throw five innings on the anniversary date of his surgery (July 3), but it will be later than that before he's ready to rejoin the rotation.
