He also gets an invite to major league spring training. Ortega, 26, posted an ugly 8.12 ERA over 34 relief appearances with the Diamondbacks' Double-A squad this year. He will likely serve as organizational depth for Texas.

The move was actually made on July 25, but the D'Backs never announced it. Ortega, who holds an 8.12 ERA over 34 relief appearances for Mobile this season, is now off the 40-man roster.

Diamondbacks optioned RHP Yonata Ortega to Double-A Mobile.
Ortega was added to the 40-man roster over the offseason in order to be kept away from the Rule 5 draft, but he never had a real chance of making the team. The reliever posted a 4.11 ERA in 48 games between High- and Double-A last season.

Moreland was cleared after running the bases on Sunday with no issues. He'll play at Frisco for three games before being activated on Friday, the first day he's eligible. The first baseman has been out since June 6 with a right hamstring strain.

The move is retroactive to June 13, so Baker will be allowed to return in less than 15 days if he's feeling well enough. He suffered the right thumb sprain last week while trying to give a high-five to a teammate.

Matt Harrison played catch Monday for the first time since his back surgery.
Good news, but Harrison will be restricted to flat ground work for another 4-6 weeks before getting back on a mound. Even then, he'll likely need another month to build up his workload. The southpaw isn't expected to rejoin the Rangers' rotation until September, though he could provide a nice boost down the stretch.

Ogando still has some soreness in his right shoulder, and the Rangers aren't going to let him thrown from the mound until he's completely pain-free. He'll need to go out on a rehab assignment after throwing off a mound at least a couple times, so the right-hander isn't close to returning.

It's the first time he's done so since he was shut down after feeling soreness in the back of his right elbow. Lewis will likely need several more mound sessions before facing hitters, so he's not close to resuming his rehab assignment.

Soria has thrown multiple bullpen sessions and rounds of live batting practice this month, reporting no issues with his surgically-repaired elbow. He could join the Rangers' bullpen by the end of this month.
