Liam Hendriks gave up five runs in five innings Wednesday in a loss to the Royals.
Hendriks didn't fare as well in this one as he did in his debut last week against the White Sox. The Royals opened both the second and fourth innings with three straight singles. Hendriks gave up just one extra-base hit and he didn't walk anyone, but it's hard to give up that many hits in a row without getting hurt.

In his major league debut, Liam Hendriks allowed three runs over seven innings in a loss to the White Sox.
He struck out four, walked three and gave up only four hits. It was a pretty impressive debut for the 22-year-old Australian who posted a 4.56 ERA over nine starts upon his promotion to Triple-A this year. Unfortunately, he was playing with a punchless offense and pitching against Jake Peavy, who combined with his bullpen on a shutout. We still can't recommend him for AL-only owners, but Hendricks will likely take on Kansas City next week.

Twins purchased the contract of RHP Liam Hendriks from Triple-A Rochester.
Hendricks will start Tuesday against the White Sox. He struggled a bit upon his promotion to Triple-A Rochester, posting a 4.56 ERA over nine starts, but overall he has a 3.36 ERA and nice 111/21 K/BB ratio over 139 1/3 innings between Double- and Triple-A. The 22-year-old Australian will be making his major league debut. We can't recommend him for AL-only owners.

The 22-year-old Australian will be making his major league debut. Utility man Brian Dinkleman and reliever Kyle Waldrop are also expected to be promoted by the Twins.

Luke Hughes received a cortisone shot in his right shoulder on Wednesday.
A second opinion on Hughes' MRI showed only inflammation and he hopes to resume baseball activities as soon as next week. The 27-year-old batted just .223/.289/.338 over 317 plate appearances in 2011 and will compete for a bench job this spring.
