Francisco Liriano fired seven scoreless innings Wednesday in the Pirates' 1-0 victory over the Cubs.
Liriano has been dominant in all three of his starts since returning from the disabled list and is a must-own in every mixed fantasy format at this point. He allowed only two hits to the Cubs on Wednesday, fanning nine batters and walking just one. The left-hander is clearly enjoying his first taste of the National League but has an interleague matchup next week against a tough Tigers offense. It'll be a good test.

Francisco Liriano improved to 2-0 after limiting the Brewers to one run in 5 2/3 innings on Thursday.
Liriano pretty much matched his first start tonight. That his 1.55 WHIP is pretty much a match for a 1.64 ERA suggests he's not pitching especially well, but he does have 16 strikeouts in 11 innings. He's capable of remaining a decent mixed-league starter while healthy.

Francisco Liriano made his season debut Saturday against the Mets and allowed one run in 5 1/3 innings as part of an 11-2 victory.
Liriano scattered six hits while striking out nine and walking a pair. The lone run scored on an RBI single by Marlon Byrd with one out in the bottom of the sixth inning. He'll have a tougher test against the Brewers next week, but Liriano's strikeout potential should make him an asset in most mixed leagues. He could benefit by pitching in the National League, so give him a shot if he's sitting on the waiver wire.

Pirates activated LHP Francisco Liriano from the 15-day disabled list.
Liriano has been out all season while recovering from a broken right arm and will make his Pirates debut Saturday against the Mets. He won't be on a strict pitch count after throwing 98 pitches in his latest rehab outing. With his strikeout ability, Liriano makes for a decent flier in deeper mixed leagues.

d'Arnaud has been sidelined since undergoing left thumb surgery late in spring training. He figures to need a few weeks' worth of rehab at-bats but could be optioned to Triple-A after that.

That's assuming he gets through bullpen sessions on Tuesday and Friday with no issues. McDonald is slated to go four innings and/or throw 65 pitches for Altoona, so he'll need at least one additional rehab start before being activated. He's not a given to rejoin the rotation once healthy.

Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said Thursday that Charlie Morton (elbow, shoulder) will make three more minor league rehab starts.
Morton's rehab from Tommy John surgery was recently halted due to some shoulder soreness, but he returned to game action Thursday with Double-A Altoona and gave up two runs in four innings. If all goes well, he could join the Pirates' rotation in the early part of June.

Karstens, currently working his way back from shoulder inflammation, gave up one run in three innings Monday in his first rehab outing with High-A Bradenton. He could join the Pirates by early June, though it isn't clear what his role will be.
