Steve Clevenger has elected free agency.
Clevenger was outrighted off the Mariners' 40-man roster earlier this week. The 30-year-old was limited to just 22 games this season due to hand and elbow injuries and finished the season on the restricted list after being suspended for making offensive statements on social media regarding the Black Lives Matter movement.

Mariners sent C Steve Clevenger outright to Triple-A Tacoma.
Clevenger was acquired from the Orioles last winter in the Mark Trumbo deal and mad more news with some inappropriate tweets in September than he did with anything he accomplished on the field. The 30-year-old was limited to just 22 games due to hand and elbow injuries. He can opt for free agency over taking the minor league assignment.

Clevenger was in hot water over some inappropriate tweets on Thursday. He was already not going to return this season due to hand and elbow injuries but now won't be paid during that time.

Steve Clevenger (hand, elbow) could play winter ball this offseason.
He's out for the year with hand and elbow injuries but is hoping to get some at-bats in before spring training. Clevenger is no stranger to winter ball having played in Venezuela during the 2011 offseason. The 30-year-old is under team control for the next three seasons.

That's what was initially suspected and means the outfielder is expected to miss 3-4 weeks of action. The hard-hitting rookie was sizzling at the plate to start the season, hitting .338/.442/.600 with four homers and 16 RBI.

The Mariners announced Friday that Felix Hernandez has been diagnosed with bursitis in his shoulder and is expected to miss 3-4 weeks.
The veteran right-hander has forced to leave his start on Tuesday due to fatigue in his shoulder. Chase De Jong is expected to hold down his spot in the rotation for the next couple of weeks but doesn't make for an appealing fantasy option.

Mariners manager Scott Servais said he expects Hisashi Iwakuma (knee) to make his next scheduled start.
"I don't know yet, but I'm assuming he will be," Servais said. "He's tough. He's a grizzled veteran, and he'll take the ball if he can." Iwakuma took a hard comebacker off his left knee in the fifth inning of Wednesday's win over the Angels. He stayed in the game for the top of the sixth but was lifted after allowing three straight hits. The veteran right-hander is currently lined up to face the Phillies on the road next Tuesday.

Drew Smyly received a platelet rich plasma injection in his injured left elbow on Tuesday.
Smyly was placed on the 60-day DL with a strained flexor tendon, knocking him out for at least the first two months of 2016. The hope is that he'll resume throwing in about six weeks. Waiver claim Evan Marshall has taken Smyly's place on the 40-man roster.

Steve Cishek (hip) threw a bullpen session in front of Mariners coaches on Tuesday at Safeco Field.
He'll have a similar workout Thursday before heading back out on a minor league rehab assignment. Cishek has allowed two runs over four innings thus far between Double-A Arkansas and Triple-A Tacoma. He's working on some mechanical adjustments as he nears the end of his recovery from October hip surgery.

Mariners placed RHP Evan Scribner on the 10-day disabled list with a flexor bundle strain in his right elbow.
The 31-year-old hurler has been a disaster in his eight appearances with the Mariners this season, compiling an 11.05 ERA, 1.77 WHIP and 6/0 K/BB ratio in 7 1/3 innings. It's unclear at the moment just how long he'll be sidelined.
