Brewers prospect Johnny Hellweg has been very impressive early on in spring camp and could be a consideration to open the season in the bullpen.
Hellweg was acquired from the Angels last season in the Zack Greinke trade. He has worked as both a starter and reliever in the minor leagues, but the Brewers would only use him out of the bullpen if he were to make the Opening Day roster. If not, he'll serve as a starter at Triple-A.

Brewers recalled RHP Johnny Hellweg from Double-A Huntsville.
Acquired from the Angels in the Zack Greinke deal, Hellweg posted a 3.29 ERA over 139 2/3 frames at the Double-A level this season. He has the stuff to be a mid-rotation starter if he can work out his control issues.

The Brewers have placed prospect right-hander Johnny Hellweg on the disabled list with Double-A Huntsville in an effort to limit his innings.
Hellweg, 23, was acquired from the Angels late last month in the Zack Greinke deal. He has logged 129 1/3 innings this season after throwing just 89 1/3 innings last year, so the Brewers are just being cautious. He will only pitch in relief the rest of the way once activated.

Brewers acquired RHP Johnny Hellweg, SS Jean Segura and RHP Ariel Pena from the Angels for RHP Zack Greinke.
Hellweg was a 16th round selection of the Angels in the 2008 draft. In 21 starts with Double-A Arkansas this season, he compiled a 5-10 record, 3.38 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 88/60 K/BB ratio. As is the case with Pena, he’s considered close to big league ready, and could see some time in the Brewers rotation as soon as this season.

It's the first time he's done so since undergoing knee surgery. Hart admitted that the running was "awkward," but he could be ready for a rehab assignment in about a week. The assignment is expected to take a while, so it will likely be well into June before Hart is activated.

Brewers placed 1B Mat Gamel on the 60-day disabled list with a knee injury.
It's a procedural move, as Gamel required surgery in early March to repair a torn right ACL and is expected to miss the entire 2013 season. The Brewers now have an opening on their 40-man roster.

It's a move made in order to clear 40-man roster space for Francisco Rodriguez. Green is out for the season after undergoing hip surgery last month.

Chris Narveson (finger) threw a bullpen session over the weekend in Cincinnati and is scheduled for another one while the Brewers are in Pittsburgh.
The left-hander should be ready for a rehab assignment after that. Assuming all goes well, it sounds like Narveson might be ready to return before the end of the month.

The 30-year-old southpaw has been one of the few dependable arms in the Brewers' bullpen this season, boasting a 2.30 ERA and 0.89 WHIP over his first 15 2/3 innings. Mike Fiers has been recalled to take his place.

Mark Rogers (shoulder) has been pulled from his minor league rehab assignment.
Rogers had a rough 11.12 ERA and 1/8 K/BB ratio in 5 2/3 innings with Double-A Huntsville and left his most recent appearance on Tuesday due to tingling in his right arm. The 27-year-old has a long injury history and began the season on the disabled list with what was termed as right shoulder instability. He has been sent back to Phoenix for further testing, after which we should know more about the next step.
