Shohei Ohtani was rocked for seven runs over 1 1/3 innings Friday against the Rockies.
Ohtani looked great in the first inning, but the wheels came off in the second, as he allowed seven runs on seven hits (including home runs to Nolan Arenado and Ian Desmond). He was originally slated to throw about 75 pitches, but his outing was cut short at 50 pitches. Ohtani has allowed 17 runs (15 earned) on 18 hits (including four home runs) in 8 1/3 innings if you include all of his outings this spring, though he’s done so with a shiny 19/3 K/BB ratio. There’s been some speculation about him beginning the season in the minors, but we’d still be surprised to see it come to that. Mar 16 - 8:35 PM
