Jon Gray surrendered four runs on seven hits over six innings in Wednesday's win over the Padres.
Gray struck out seven and walked two in the outing. He had the luxury of working with a monster lead in this one, as the Rockies jumped out to a 13-0 lead through five innings before the Padres finally managed to get to the right-hander in a four-run sixth. The key blow in that frame came when he surrendered a three-run homer to Cory Spangenberg. With this one in the books, Gray will carry a 6.19 ERA and 1.75 WHIP (seven starts) into a road outing against the Cardinals next time he takes to the mound. An eight-run debacle against the Mets in his start previous to Wednesday is cause for a good amount of the bloat on that earned-run number. Jul 19 - 6:50 PM
