Mariners prospect 3B/1B D.J. Peterson went 2-for-4 with a home run, double and two RBI on Wednesday for Double-A Jackson.
The home run was just his third of the season, and it was his first since May 27. Peterson is off to a rough start this season back at Jackson, batting .212/.292/.317 with 15 extra-base and 25 RBI through 55 contests. It is worth noting, however, that the 23-year-old’s strikeout (22.7%) and walk rates (9.4%) are close to his career averages, and his current .268 BABIP suggests his triple-slash line is bound to improve. Plus, Peterson has at least shown some improvement at the plate with each month, posting a .510 OPS in April (18 games), followed by a .632 OPS (26 games) and now a .731 OPS in June (11 games).
