Mariners prospect 3B D.J. Peterson was a combined 4-for-7 with two home runs and five RBI on Tuesday in a double header for Double-A Jackson.
The No. 12 overall pick in the 2012 draft, Peterson is batting only .224 in 17 games in August but still has clubbed five home runs. The 22-year-old has put up impressive numbers this season (his first full professional season) overall, with a .300/.365/.561 batting line, 28 home runs, 30 doubles and 102 RBI in 111 games between High-A High Desert and Double-A Jackson. The Mariners are aggressive with their top prospects, so a September call-up can’t be completely ruled out. However, a debut in mid-2015 seems more realistic. Aug 20 - 2:40 PM
