Mariners general manager Jack Zduriencik said Wednesday that prospect D.J. Peterson will get a "fair shot" to crack the Opening Day roster next spring.
Peterson, the M's first-round pick in 2013, posted a .912 OPS with 31 home runs and 111 RBI in 123 games this season between High-A High Desert and Double-A Jackson. "His age and experience might be working against him," Zduriencik said, "but this is also a pretty good hitter. You don't shut the door on it. You leave it open and see what he does." Peterson will likely be auditioning at first base, as he's blocked at third in Seattle by Kyle Seager. Thu, Oct 2, 2014 09:12:00 AM
