Scott Alexander secured the first save of his big league career in Tuesday's victory over the Rockies.
Kelvin Herrera started the ninth inning with a one-run advantage, but got into a world of trouble after retiring the first two hitters. He allowed a triple to Jonathan Lucroy, then walked Carlos Gonzalez and Gerardo Parra on a combined nine pitches. He then fell behind 2-0 to Alexi Amarista when manager Ned Yost decided he had seen enough. Alexander came on and got him on a fielder's choice, ending the game. Aug 23 - 12:39 AM
