Taylor Rogers retired the last batter of the ballgame and was awarded with his first career save on Friday against the Tigers.
The Twins' bullpen is a hot mess since the departure of Fernando Rodney. The Twins came in to the ninth inning nursing a two-run lead and sent Matt Magill out to lock it down. He got the first two outs but gave up a run in the process, so they turned to the left-hander Rogers to get the final out against switch-hitter Jeimer Candelario. Rogers has one save and a 3.55 ERA in 54 games. He has a nice 58:13 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 50 2/3 innings and could see more save chances depending on platoon matchups in the ninth inning. Trevor Hildenberger will get most of the save chances but he hasn't been very good and could lose the closer's role at any time. Aug 18 - 2:16 AM
